No.

Distasteful as it may sound for some Lakers fans, @LAD was right.

LeBron won't take the year off so to speak. But, he and everyone with half a brain knows he's not winning a championship this year unless there are several major injuries elsewhere.

Why add extra, unnecessary miles by trying to play 82?

It's way more important to preserve his health.

If LeBron blows a knee, after inking a 4 year max deal, the Lakers are completely Fucked and will be right back where they started when they gave a one legged Kobe that big contract.

What max guy gonna want to sign there next Summer with a 35 year old broken Lebron?

No way Magic risks that.

No way.

LeBron never gets injured.
He’s super human.
He twists an ankle and recovers in 1 minute.

I disagree. The Lakers roster is not that bad where a 47 win and 6th seeded lakers team gets Lebron the mvp. They need to win 50+ and a top 4 seed imo

I don't think this is true. I think we would need 55+ for Lebron to win MVP.

We shall see.

I think all eyes will be on the Lakers.

A 20 game improvement, putting up ridiculous stats, could get him MVP.

This Season, getting to 50 wins in the West won't be a easy task.

He hasn't won it in a few Seasons.

So, voters fatigue shouldn't be a issue.

I think you are probably right.

But, there is another possibility.

He wasn't going to win this year anyway. He recognized that he gained ground in the GOAT debate last season carrying a team that had almost no shot to beat GS. Maybe he is trying to replicate that in LA?

Carry the Lakers to 50+ wins, post ridiculous numbers, win MVP #5, lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs and enjoy the summer off.
Very true.

No other player has won a MVP award for 3 different franchises.

I could see KD winning another finals MVP. But unless the Warriors lose 2 of their other stars and KD leads them to a top 2 record in the West...he ain't getting the regular season MVP. I don't think any of the Warriors star players will. They are viewed as too stacked.
Agree completely.

Which is another reason I'm rolling with Lebron.

He's the biggest star that doesn't have a legit Robin.

Kyrie, Freak, Kawhi will be in the mix if one of their teams ends up being the one to beat out East.

Ditto for Embiid.

Kyrie has the same issue KD does. His team has too many good players and his stats won't be on the level of the other candidates.

Kyrie may well be top 5, but he will not win it.

Eh.....who's his best teammate?

Tatum?

Horford?

Hayward?

That's hella different than Curry, Boogie and Klay....imo

I think he has less of a chance then Lebron.

But, way more than Curry, Durant if his Celtics have a excellent year and he's the catalyst for that winning.

You are correct about the teammates. He isn't nearly as good as either Curry or KD though. Not even in the ballpark. And, his young teammates just got within a game of the Finals without him or Hayward. They would have to way exceed expectations for Kyrie to have a legit shot, and that means close to 70 wins. That ain't happening.

It isn't that his teammates are that great individually, but honestly he isn't either. And his stat line simply won't be enough to trump players like LeBron, AD, Harden, etc. no matter how many games they win.

His numbers won't even come close.

nobody's said anything about his "broken hand" since the finals...
*creeps up behind CL67, KO's him with a tire iron, hog ties him, throws him in backseat of Merc and heads for the Santa Monica pier*

Atm, I gotta go Lebron here for the reasons that were already stated. I think the young players take a leap(with Ingram taking a big leap playing next to Bron), with a decent chance of us getting to 50 wins this year. Also, let's be real, they're looking for a chance to give Lebron the MVP, so if he goes to LA, gets us to 50 plus wins, and has a good season, he might just be the odds on favorite

LeBron has a great shot.

He is really the only top candidate whose team has a great chance at drastic improvements in regular season wins. Maybe Giannis.
