We traded O'Neill because it was a position of strength per JD:

OF is 10th in WAR (Fangraphs)
But over the last 30 days, OF is ranked 26th with a -.1 WAR (Marlins #1 with 3.3). They have hit 5 home runs as a group in those 30 days (Marlins most with 20) and a .222/.277/.342 slash line.
wRC+ ranked 27th for the last 30 days with a 68. Marlins ranked #1 in that time period with a 150.

Strength my ass.

The part that really bothers me about that trade is that it didn't improve the team. Dipoto keeps saying this is a playoff team and that he is making moves for this year to help this team make the playoffs. But then he moves probably their best trade chip, not in a package for a top of the rotation starter that they desperately need, but for an oft injured minor league pitcher who has awful numbers in his few innings in the bigs. If Dipoto really thinks that Gonzales is going to have any kind of meaningful impact this season then I want some of what he's smoking because it must be some damn good shit.

I agree 100%. Years ago when Lou was manager they used to say that a team working hard for the playoffs needs to be shown appreciation by management by having him go out and add talent and say through actions that he believes they are winners and that they are in it to win it. Lou really never got that showing so he left and no Jerry isn't showing the team the love. If he doesn't believe they are a contender (which I haven't all year), he just needs to say it and then build for next year. What he is doing is the oddest thing I have ever seen in my 40 years of watching baseball.

I want to see someone show up with a custom-made Mariners jersey. Find a way to put number 500 on there, and go with PHOBIA on the nameplate.

Maybe THAT'LL get them to wake up.

I recorded the game and just finished watching, what the fuck was that Garbage?

Yet again, the heart of the lineup looks completely deflated. What is up with Cano and Cruz? Robbie can't catch up to the fastball and Nellie continues to swing at everything. Seager brought home a couple at least, but I'm not very confident with him at the plate either. Haniger finally gets a hit, but overall he remains a liability. This team isn't doing shit as it's currently constructed. Here we are worried about landing starting pitching in a trade, but continue to piss away risp on a nightly basis. We need a miracle.

Told you guys a few days ago when we got to .500.

We'd lose to BoSox (not a tough prediction considering Sale was pitching, but still)
And then get swept by the Mets.

So far I'm spot on.

If you take into consideration that Sale was pitching, perhaps you should for Paxton as well on Sunday. Chances are they won't get sweep but we said the same thing about the Phillies.

What the shit was that? Holy crap was that a bad pitch and a really bad 'break' for us. That looks like something that could sideline him for weeks again.

I'm glad Root Sports decided to show the replay for that only ONCE. Move on, it was hard to watch. Hopefully Haniger is OK.

It looked like it it him in the mouth and obviously bleeding. Again, I'm glad Root Sports did not show a replay of that more than once. Tough break.

Haniger with mouth contusion aka bruise and "alert." -- taken off-site for further evaluation.
No broken nose or anything like that... so good news.

Dude is one tough kid after taking a 95MPH fastball to the face.

two on with no outs and fail to get any runs.

Come on guys, there's no danger of reaching .500 so what are you doing? :noidea:

Wow what a fucking terrible base-running decision to send Seager home.

I wouldn't have even waved in Dyson, he was dead in the water.

I get being aggressive, but both of those decisions on Seager were really dumb. He got away with the first one on the botched play at second and was out by a mile at home.

Seager needs to get onto a treadmill or something. His ass is getting big and he can't run for shiat. Thrown out twice today?

Edit: oops yeah bailed out the 1st time.

That wasn't just a lack of speed, that was just a poor damn decision by Seager. Not even someone with Dyson's speed should've headed home on that play.
