Speaking of the Blue Jays, Pillar got suspended 2 games for failing to be PC in his derogatory comments towards Jason Motte.
I'm not a big Hoying fan. But he sure made a nice catch last night, and appears to me to be our best option in CF. Swung the bat decently too.
He is definitely our best defensive option.
I have no issue with how that situation was resolved. Toronto and Pillar issued statements, and MLB and MLBPA came together and quickly agreed upon a punishment.
So dumb the whole thing. I don't like Pillar or the Jays, but the idea of suspending a guy this year for calling someone a faggot but not last year when the same guy actively made an altercation worse by swinging at everyone on the field is just ridiculous.
Like I said, I have no issue with how it was handled.
It is PC nonsense. It has invaded every part of our lives it seems.
People get so butt hurt these days. Everything has to be so politically correct. I guess the LGBT community is making in roads.
Probably just a regular day off and letting Choo get away from the bench for a bit.
Yeah, he could have said any number of other things and not be suspended, but sure enough one group or another would take offense. Could have said bitch and some feminists groups might call it sexist for example. I say let the fans decide. If they hate him they will stop supporting the Jays and then they can cut him or whatever. Suspending him for 2 games doesn't really accomplish anything.
I understand why people would be offended by what Pillar said, but I don't really care and likely never will. It's just a damn word. Okay off my soapboax. Go Rangers.
The Rangers get some good luck tonight. Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez won't be in the line up. Cabrera has some kind of injury and will miss at least one more game and victor martinez will probably miss the entire series because of paternity leave.
if there is any game we want those guys to miss it is the one with little Nicky on the mound.
Pitch around JD Martinez. He's back and is tearing it up.
People said the same thing about 50 years ago about black people, FYI.
Part of it is just evolving as a society.
That's life. Things change. Marijuana legalization is picking up too. I bet it's legal nationwide within the next five years
