I'd be curious to know how many mound visits have been made in past.

More than 6. Probably closer to 20 if you include all those catcher and other position players trips to the mound

You're just guessing or do you have some actual numbers?

I still don't see why we need mound visits at all. If you can't handle the pressure of the game and need someone to calm you down then find a different career. If you are afraid the other team is picking up your signs then that is on you. Change them the next inning. The length of a game doesn't bother me. The amount of time wasted during the gm is. All the bs that continues to get worse yr after tr is a problem. Get in the damn batters box and ditch your stupid ass routine between every pitch

I am basically an "old school" kinda fan. This rule doesn't bother me. I know the pace of play talk is geared toward younger, newer baseball fans. No problem with that (to a point).

For me, I have never had an issue with how long the games take. And now, with social media/cell phones, I can stare at my device like an idiot. And send dick pics.

That's exactly what Michael Kay said on his radio show today. The length doesn't bother him. The dead time in the game due to batters stepping out and a ridiculous amount of mound visits is what bothers him.

Also, he made a good point. Why is there no penalty for a 7th visit? What happens if a player/coach visits the mound for a 7th time?

So the 6 mound visits are just for the catcher, PC/Manager, or a combo of both?

I wasn't in favor of the pitch clock idea.

It's at the umpire's discretion to allow time-out. If it's not granted, I'm assuming that whatever pitch clock penalty gets called will come into play.

I think the stuff with the batters will gradually get filtered out as more guys come up through the minors with the pitch clock. Minor league games are so much faster it's crazy.

I'd like to a see a rule where it limits you to one pitching change per inning with exceptions made for injuries of course.

If you're a MLB pitcher, you should be able to get hitters out from both sides of the plate.

Id rather see 82 games or 62 games that matter over 162 where literally every team wins 60 games.........

Could the penalty be the same as when a manager goes to the mound twice in the same inning? Have to take the pitcher out.

Would make sense but I saw no mention of any penalty if there is a 7th visit.

The umpire could just say "no, there's no visit" and stop the manager from coming out. I doubt many managers are gonna be like "fuck you, I'm going anyway"

The stupid part about the rule is if it goes to extra innings, you get one additional mound visit per inning so if a game goes 14 innings then you get another 5 mound visit?
