Interesting. So was this discovery:

Starting strong safety Devin Johnson, back-up offensive tackle Ty Horn, All-America linebacker Tanner Brock and all conference defensive tackle D.J. Yendrey were all arrested in TCU drug sweep and have been dismissed from the program. Wow.

What in the world does this do to the team this year and program in the long-term? Those are all leadership guys.

TCU's high water mark for the past and the next 20 years was last season. They are going to get a lung kicked out of them in the Big XII. They won't be sneaking up on anyone, they will have to play a much more difficult schedule EVERY week in spite of injuries, they will suffer from other teams using more negative recruiting against them, etc. Gary Patterson should have left after last season. The drug bust will be used as an excuse but TCU had no chance for big success even if those kids had stayed clean and eligible. Austin, Norman, Stillwater, Morgantown, etc. are going to be hard on the Frogs.

They were supposed to have an "in" on the state's top QB prospect, Tyrone Swoopes......I'm pretty confident that kid is a Longhorn for sure now.

Mack is on a roll; ANY kid he wants in Texas is pretty much assured of going to UT. Even OU is recruiting more nationally and taking fewer Texas kids. The coaches at OU have a new philosophy that they MUST expand their reach and try to pick up the best talent they can in other states too.....especially Florida and California. They are also picking up kids from New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Illinois, Kansas, etc. We all know everybody and his dog is recruiting hard in Texas now and the SEC is going to be doing everything it can to expand its reach too. Mack is doing a great job pulling them in; just not so great lately putting everything together on the field but that's going to change by no later than the 2013 season.

Texas will be a BCS team next year if they get the OL together and playing well. They'll be a NC contender in 13 if they get the OL AND QB situation resolved.

Both of those are tall orders. But the team won 8 games on the backs of freshmen, and if not for injuries, probably could have won 10 games last year. People really are underestimating just what happened last year, and what it means for the future of that team. I mean, look at what just happened......they stole key recruits from other programs, and we've never really seen that before, including two prospects from the vaunted SECSECSEC

All they need is the OL to figure it out and get stronger, and a QB to limit mistakes, to be in contention for a BCS bowl. If the OL gets better and a QB steps up his play, they are looking at a chance at a NC.

Star, you guys have a Quarterback problem that's just begging to deep six you in a game or two. Until you get that position clicking the other changes will indeed improve the team but the QB position is still a heaving crap shoot at UT. But I will admit OU has the same problem. Landry Jones waits for the Spirit to move him and if it doesn't then he's not a helluva lot better than the kid running the scout team. If either of us gets really good to excellent play from our QB's we'll be hard to handle, assuming all our other (fixable) problems are resolved.

We were an injury from winning 10 games last year IN SPITE of QB issues. This can be worked around. All we need is a guy that can limit mistakes.

If the OL can be dominant, QB won't matter as much, given what we expect to have at RB. And our defense will be a top 5 unit next year.

All we need is a caretaker of the offense to be a BCS contending team. To be an NC contender, we will need a QB playing at a high level.

Oh, and BOOM:
Affadavit says TCU DB Devin Johnson told an undercover officer 82 TCU players failed a surprise drug test ordered by Gary Patterson Feb. 1.

TCU is toast.

This is all the BigXII needs.....a nasty scandal after all the other turmoil over the past couple of years. What's next? All the shooters move from Virginia Tech to West Virginia? We catch Bob Stoops in drag? Mack's wife runs off with Les Miles? It's a damn circus around this conference.

This is going to get ugly. If 82 players really failed, and Patterson hasn't done anything or talked to the administration, that's grounds for firing.

And this also screams LOIC if he didn't know his whole team was using drugs/dealing drugs. If the NCAA gets involved.........bye bye TCU

USC, Ohio State, Oregon, State Penn, etc, etc. I was hoping the Big XII would escape the carnage but here come the Frogs and they do what? Who's running that football team? Cheech and Chong? If it turns out to be what it appears to be I'll be the first one to say "throw the book at them". Everybody has a shine or two who deals drugs. Or a white kid who doesn't show up for a cushy job and still takes the money. But this? This is criminal behavior for an entire football team....minus a few choir boys who are going to get to transfer after the NCAA gets through with TCU. And it didn't even take a real slick operation to catch them. Some guys on the Ft. Worth Donut Squad caught them. LOL

Reading through the affidavits now.......this is some hilarious shit.

Apparently all this started because a recruit told Patterson he no longer was considering TCU because they had a drug problem. First of all - I've NEVER heard of something like this occurring, where a recruit would dime out a program. SECOND - WHO did Patterson have this recruit running around campus with?

Thirdly, the arrest affidavits are incredible. They were selling to complete strangers with no background checks, nothing......and they were moving everything from coke to xanax to weed. One of the female students brought her kid along on drug deals!

Let's also assume that the report of 82 players failing a drug test is wrong (it almost HAS to be wrong). Let's just say it's 30........20.......either way, it's HUGE.

This is just getting started, and I imagine in a few weeks the NCAA is going to step in and want answers on how this drug ring operated under the coaching staff's noses. How kids tested clean week after week.......if they actually did. There's going to be some heads rolling on this one.

And for the record, right now, I'm not advocating they fire Patterson.
