I gotta be honest for a minute here.

I don't think the Stones or terrible. I'd probably even like them if they didn't completely butcher a Waylon Jennings classic. Unforgivable sin in my book.

Glad to see my Stones post got people going.

They still suck balls and are overrated AF.

U2 is still shifty as proven by their performance on SNL last night.

that's the 2nd time someone mentioned michael mcdonald....just to be clear, are there any posters in this thread unsure of what "rock and roll" is, and what constitutes a "rock star"? because michael mcdonald is the furthest thing from it.

He was in the Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan.

It's a two-way tie between Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons

I think people are getting hung up on "Rock N Roll" and what is and what is not. The title is most overrated "rock star," which in my opinion can include a lot of folks who don't play rock n roll.

Rolling Stones' Can't You Hear Me Knocking just came on the radio. That's a jam.

They have so many amazing songs and albums. They're not necessarily one of my favorite bands, but given their longevity, and body of work/number of absolutely iconic rock n roll songs, it's hard to argue that they're not the greatest rock n roll band in history.

I do not for the life of me understand what people saw in KISS.
They put on a great show is why I think they were as big as they were.

They had several pretty good rocking songs. I don't listen to them much now, but as a teenager, I would rock out to Shout it out Loud, I Love it Loud, Lick It Up or Detroit Rock City.
