Carl Crawford made $22 million last year for 87 plate appearances of hitting .185 and is now being paid to be retired.

But yeah, Hamilton is worse. The Angels are paying him $26 million to play for another team.

A-Rod has made nearly half a billion in his career, about $200 million more than Jeter. Pretty crazy. If Cabrera's final 2 vesting options at the end of his career are fulfilled, he'll pass A-Rod, but that will still take making $30,000,000 a year for the next 9 years.

I'll tell you what: NFL players earn every dime they make. They're not overpaid. I wouldn't take that much money if it meant going through as much punishment on my body they take.

If I were talented enough to play in the NFL, I'd play 1 season & retire. I'd go the punkass, Chris Borland route. :(

That's why being an NFL Punter or Kicker is actually the best job in the League... You can make an AMAZING salary and not have to take the hits the rest of the guys take...Well, at least not that often.

Heyward by far. Greinke is a pitcher and it was bound to have him fall "flat" per his standards. Alonso is a close 2nd. Left turn... Left Turn, left turn and you guessed it, another left turn. Granted you have to be in GREAT shape to do this.
you obviously know nothing about F-1

At least Heyward has shown in the past that he has potential.

What has Brock Lobster ever shown?

He hit 27 homers one year. His career numbers are avg .262 obp .346 slg .415 ops .761.

He was never worth that contract. He is the 4th highest contract this year. 4th!!!

At least Greinke won a Cy Young and he actually had 4 great seasons.

Osweiler at $12 mil is way too much but most Qb's are overpaid.

Only because Heyward has a front-loaded contract while Cabrera's was back-loaded. Miggy is going to be making $32 million at 40.

Well you're including the first year of the contract.

He was a .784 OPS guy (114 OPS+ and 118 wRC+) who also could steal 20+ bags at an almost 90% rate. Also playing exceptional defense. Also, since he came up to the big leagues so early, he was hitting free agency at 26 years old. So in hindsight it looks bad at first, but at only $23 million per year on average for ages 26-33 (prime years), it really was a good deal.

not true:suds:

To criticize the deal is to not understand that Bonilla gained nothing and the Mets actually came out ahead in the deal.

If Bonilla had accepted the $5.9 million in 2000 and invested the entire amount at 8% interest, the original investment would have grown to $104.1 million by 2035*. If instead, Bonilla takes his annual payment and invests that with an 8% annual return, he would have $95.2 million by 2035….

But more importantly to the Mets, if they invested the $5.9 million at 8% interest in 2000. That money would have grown to more than $14 million before they had to make a single payment. And that money would continue to draw interest even while they are making payments

So just like uncle sam does Holds your money all year then gives it back:suds:
Except that money went to Bernie Madoff...

Fuzzy math, I got $89 million at 8% interest

From 2013 to 2015, it looked like he was improving every year offensively and was always good defensively. He was on fire the last 1/2 of the season on the Cardinals.

Odds are Heyward is going to bounce back and hit .280 next year and win another Gold Glove. I'd love for him to get benched again, though.
