MLB Should Elimimate Service Time Rules

They simply prevent clubs from putting the best team on the field. This is an article from 2015 when much talk on the issue arose about the time Cubs Kris Bryant was delayed from a promotion because of the service time requirement. The rules are complex and recognized as silly by baseball insiders. They are detrimental to rebuilding clubs like the Phillies.

As the article states. "When the best players are not in the majors, it’s bad for baseball."

The problem exists because the problem was created by baseball. They will never change this rule. However, it is
up to the individual teams if they want to start playing guys earlier with the risk of paying 5 years later.

As long as teams think they build a hypothetical lineup five years down the road, they will be doomed to failure. It's also known as idiot's delight or screw you fans, we're in control and you can just buy beer and be patient.
