Some numbers on Mizzou:

Missouri

Recruiting (that's 5*/4*/3*):
2015, 25th, 1/2/20
2016, 43rd, 0/2/18
2017, 43rd, 0/1/24
2018, 43rd, 0/0/25

Average Rank: 38.5

2017 Team Stat Rankings:
Points: 14th (37.5/game), Allowed: #93 (31.8)
TO Margin: -8, #111, (17 taken, 25 given)
Explosive Plays (20+ Yards): 82, #14
Opponent 3rd down conversion: 43.4%, #101

Their offense was good enough last year, to be sure. I think that explosive plays number was higher than Bama and UGA. Lock is the top QB in the division, coming in. Did have 25 turnovers.

The D was the problem, which wouldn't have been the case a few years ago. They had these swarming, fast defenses, very good pass rush. If they can right that ship quick, they'll be the most dangerous team in SECE.

But looking at those recruiting rankings doesn't inspire confidence in the talent level.

who gives a fuck about stars ?

I think Kansas said that too.

FACT - A school like MU signs a 5 star guy. He gets downgraded to a 4.

4 star guy signs with Oklahomo, he becomes a 5.

Stars don't mean a lot

Mizzou averaged just over 9 wins a season and won during the 10 year period 2006 to 2015 and won 5 Bowl Games. The only 5 star recruits they had were Blaine Gabbert, Trent Richardson, and Dorial Green-Beckham. You know who wasn't a 4 or 5 star recruit? Try Chase Daniel, Jeremy Maclin, Aldon Smith, Sean Witherspoon, Chase Coffman, Shane Ray, Justin Smith, Mitch Morse, Ziggy Hood and a few more guys playing in the NFL.

Nice average, what about the past 2 years? I’ll lend a helping hand, you averaged 5.5 wins.

How many championships did that win you? Stars matter.

(a) They didn't join the SEC until 2012.
(b) Sure, they've had a bunch of effective guys 'coached up' from 3*, whatever. Some good teams. We'll see how it holds up as the SECE gets tougher.

There is a such a thing as smart recruiting not just getting blue chippers but getting guys they believe in. If you count the stars alone they are on recruit the same as Vandy or Illinois or Iowa State. But for some reason they are better than those teams.

What was that Richardson that played DT for Mizzou? I must have got the first name wrong and now I can't think of it. He's the one that said Georgia played "Old Man Football". Damn I forget his first name.

Stars don’t mean a lot if you have a good enough coach that develops their talent. Do you really think Barry Odom is that type of coach? I and many others don’t.

Very few have that type of ability. It sucks trust me, my team is in the same boat. (Our coach is shit) But saying stars don’t matter is silly.
