Looks like Magic will be overseeing things as we bring in a new GM to run the day to day. Holy crap

hopefully ol' magic has a little more patience and attention span than he did when he wanted to get after it with the dodgers. gonna take some heavy lifting to get the lakers back to the forefront, that's for sure.

They made the change with two days to go before the trade deadline. Butler to LA?

Not quite sure I understand what that means.

I don't know if this timing is good or bad. Do they miss out on any deals as a result, or jump at an ill-advised trade without a GM in place?

I mean, he's still a Dodgers minority owner right? I don't recall him ever being anything more than that.

Rob Pelinka, Arn Tellem Considered Candidates For Lakers' GM Job - RealGM Wiretap

Looks like the Lakers could be again going the Warriors route and trying to hire an agent to become their new GM. Bob Myers went from being an agent (under Arn Tellem), to GM. The only difference I think is that Bob was able to be an assistant GM to Larry Riley before actually stepping up to the big chair.

Brad Turner @BA_Turner
Per source Jerry West has not been approached by Lakers to be in any role.

The writing was on the wall when Magic was brought in. But I didn't think it would happen this fast. That bleacher report article I read yesterday was pretty damming on those two guys.

Unfortunately, the Lakers are going to be in neutral for a while with all the bad moves by those two. Short on willing to trade assets, long on bad contracts.

actually you're right; for some reason I was thinking he had assumed a more "hands-on" presence as minority owner, but I guess his stake was far less than I thought it was.

He used to be. Paying Mozgov and Deng 136mil was not a good move at all.

He was definitely the "face" of the group. But I think that's about it.
