Kind of hard to be pissed at him for not drafting a guy at #3 who wasn't even a projected top 15 pick.

If GM's base picks on projections, they shouldn't be a GM.

Fair enough. I'm just saying it's pretty easy to look back and say; "We should've taken Trout! We should've taken Seager!"

At the time I don't think anyone questioned the Zunino pick. Dude was insanely good in college. Most believed him to be the next Mike Piazza.

Who was drafted in the 62nd round. Just saying if you continue to draft via the opinion of the masses, you continue to have the M's farm system.

Anyone think Dipoto will trade him? I have a feeling that Dipoto will use him as a trade chip if the right trade comes up.

Updated numbers on the Tyler O'Neill Tear: last 25 games, 330/432/723 with 11 HR, 25 RBI. This has come over 94 ABs with 16 walks and 31 K's

---------------------------

That was my exact thought when posting this. I don't think for Verlander but maybe Sonny Gray? Not sure who else would be worth it (not saying Gray is).

Ready for some triple digit heat? Thyago Vieira joins the Rainiers bullpen tonight, up from Double-A Arkansas.

I wouldn't move him unless it were for a long-term controllable - younger - asset.

Wonder if they're trying to fast-track him to the majors like they did with Diaz. Vieria's numbers aren't as good, but it wouldn't be the first time.

Regarding O'Neill, MLBTR reports that the Mariners would be open to moving him.

I like him a lot as a prospect, so I'd hate to see him go, but it makes sense from an organizational depth perspective.

The Mariners currently have Haniger, Gamel, Heredia and Kyle Lewis who all project as long-term players for the team.

Additionally, although it appears that they intend on keeping this year's top pick Evan White at 1B, there is always the possibility that they move him to the OF. I recall a report saying that he looks like a guy who has 20-30 SB ability with a strong arm, so he could likely be moved to left or right field if the organization were to decide to do so.

Sonny Gray has too many red flags. I don't understand the big obsession. He has looked good in his last five starts, but the 10 starts previous to that plus the entire 2016 season, not very good.

In his last five starts, four have been at home, where he enjoys arguably the best pitcher's park in the AL and the other start was at the White Sox, a team that has clearly thrown in the towel. One moth ago his ERA was 4.82 and his WHIP was 1.42. His road ERA this year is year is 4.85. Last year it was a 5.57. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Let the big boys fight over him. We should look in a different direction.

Yeah I agree, I think his value on the trade market is fairly significant.

The thing I don't like about trading O'Neill is he is one of the few prospects we have that I feel is a guaranteed major league player. When you look through the Mariners farm there just are not that many guys like that.

With Segura getting a new contract this would have been the year to have a high level SS prospect we could trade.
