Microsoft is building a new browser as part of its Windows 10 push | ZDNet

I skipped Windows 8 and this is going to have to be good for me to leave Windows 7. I'd love to see Google Chrome get some real competition.

Got 8 on a laptop, hated it. really seems to want the touch screen to really work right.

Still have an 8 pro I didnt install because of it.

but rest assure, just like they did the XP users, 7 will eventually lose support and be a virus receptacle so we all move up.

There is no Windows 9. According to Microsoft it is because of software that was designed to run on Windows 95 and 98 only checked for Windows 9 during install. In order to avoid out dated (and possible problems) Microsoft skipped Windows 9 and went to Windows 10.

If Microsoft doesn't make Spartan (the new browser) available for Windows 8.1 users (and possibly Windows 7 users) I suspect the browser will be DOA...

I have windows 8 on my laptop and a W8 phone.

For the laptop it's nothing special. The phone I got because I was tired of the iPhone. Phone has a nice interface but I don't use the cell much anymore so it doesn't matter that much to me anymore.

I've used all versions of Windows going back to 3.1 and 3.11.

Never, ever get the first version of any Microsoft OS or browser.
Always wait for the first major patch.
