And also says owners only have to connect to the Internet once to set up console, then never again.

 good changes, although a lot of damage has already been done. Still have one preordered.

(Can't link video from my phone.)

I think I'm going to hold onto my 360 for one more year, play NCAA and Madden 25 on it, then make a decision about the new Xbox vs. PS4 next summer.

I don't know enough about either to make a quick decision.

I'm thinking the same. It's usually a good idea to let'em work the bugs out first anyway.

^There's a link to the official announcement.

All I can say is I'm glad they had sense enough to reverse course while they still could. I thought a lot about what they were trying to accomplish and I can see their viewpoint on some things and also about how it could be a good thing. But I was really put off by their arrogance in that they seemingly gave you no choice. You had to use all these features or you couldn't use the console. The 24 hr internet check requirement really bugged me because I don't online game much so I don't hook up my console. It was total bullshit to know that I couldn't play games just because I didn't "check in".

I'm still skeptical on the console though. But at least now they're back into contention of me buying it whereas before, I was 98% sure there was no chance.

Exactly what we're going to do. My 15 yr old son came up with that idea on his own which I'm pretty proud of.

It seems to me that their initial announcement was more for gathering a reaction. Then they saw the shitstorm that they created and realized they were fucking stupid.

There was no way they're throw away that much business. I don't think they're the best at making their decisions but there's no way they could be dumb enough to follow through on that.

You still have to have the stupid kinect hooked up to it. That and the $100 more price tag means I'll be getting a PS4, but no right away. I never get a first gen console.

They won't switch them back, not within the first year or two. But both Sony and Microsoft want to move in that direction anyway so I wouldn't be surprised to see it by the end of the consoles' life or midway through.
