Report: Michigan to hire former Arkansas OC Dan Enos

It appears that former Arkansas offensive coordinator Dan Enos has found a new home. And it will be at one of the biggest schools in the country.

The former Razorbacks offensive coordinator also played quarterback at Michigan State.

If you can’t beat ‘em, hire their former players

I wonder what position he’ll take on. So far we’ve only lost Frey (lol FSU) and both Pep and Drevno haven’t been fired.

Tainted with the ways of the Chippewa...

Is this as OC or QB coach?

Or just to recruit guys like Cooper Rush and Antonio Brown? Enos knows offense...

I liked Enos. His 2015 offense was as good or better than any of Petrino's. 2016 was good but inconsistent. This year wasn't good but he had no OL to work with. Brandon Allen finished with the top QBR in the country in 2015, his first year.

He has some head-scratching playcalls every once in a while but he did a good job coaching QBs.

Sounds like he’s going to be a positions coach

It was weird to me when he left Mt. Pleasant for an SEC OC job.

Don't see that type of move often. But I'm sure the money was good.

What's Michigan paying him?

Drevno needs to go back to just coaching the OL. Not impressed with his play calling thus far

It's a good hire IMO -- we're limited in the number of coaches out there who run our type of offense in college.

Hire as many coaches as you please. You need to find a QB. I'm thinking you'll like the Ole Mis transfer tho.

Arkansas' offensive rankings by S&P:
2015: 5th rushing, 1st passing
2016: 74th rushing, 22nd passing
2017: 9th rushing, 47th passing

Arkansas had a tough task in replacing Alex Collins and Brandon Allen in 2016. Their top two running backs had around 5.5 YPC in 2016, but their overall YPC went down from 5.0 to 4.1. Not sure how much of that is because of sacks, Arkansas was 102nd in sack percentage in 2016 after being 15th in 2015. Austin Allen had -126 yards on 65 carries in 2016.

It's not that limited. Granted some teams run it a bit different, but there are
still enough teams that run...Dive Right...Dive Left...QB Sack...Punt.

If by top, do you mean 6th?

Honestly, I've sat on this for a few days and I've decided that nothing matters until Drevno/Pep are no longer calling plays. If they stay on, the people under them won't matter. With Patterson, if he is eligible to play, I think that will minimize some of their shortfalls, but ultimately they will be a problem until they're replaced. They don't add value, they're something we have to overcome.
