Total punches landed against Mayweather

Canelo 117
McGregor 111
PacMan 81

In his boxing debut? Pretty damn impressive. Guy isn't a boxer, he's an MMA fighter all the way, but that's impressive to me

Meh. Gotta remember it's 29 vs. 40. If Mayweather was 29 that # would be MUCH lower because it would've ended sub 6th round.

He was retired for two years and did this as a pay day. I'm pretty sure the strategy was always to wait him out a few rounds and then go for it, while also trying to string it along.

He had to. He's 40 years old vs. a 29 year old. Do you know what 11 years does to you physically (when you were already in great physical shape in your 20s)?

No debate there. All fights are about the matchups. Connor is a great fighter, but even in the MMA world, Dana protects him from certain guys

Did the same thing with Rousey. Dana is all about protecting his money.

I thought the ref stopped the fight prematurely. Conner was hurt but was not out on his feet ! He wasn't knocked out...he was running out of gas.

He just needed to last the round. He was doing that. He was defending himself. Not 100% successfully, but that's not the rule.

Would Conner have survived ? Maybe not, but that is what was missed because the ref fucked it up.

This was supposedly two of the best fighters in our lifetimes, getting paid millions to settle this...and the fucking ref stops it before anyone even hits the canvass ?

That's a joke. I watched it at the casino where I then went on to get drunk and lose my ass on the craps table...

Oh...and I loss a $100 bet on that Irishman..... :L

He wasn't just running out of gas, the tank was empty. He'd dropped his arms. He was defenseless and there were 2 minutes left in the round. The ref made the right call. He was just protecting McGregor. It was over.

But I will watch rounds 2 & 3 again today to try to see what the 2 judges who gave them to Mayweather saw... aside from Vegas sweating a bit.

Stop with this. NO ONE, especially not Mayweather, is going to let a guy have a good showing in a combat sport. Anything can happen and one lucky punch could end it for anyone.

Mayweather did what a smart boxer would do, he'd never watched Connor box, didn't know what his style would look like. Instead of pressing action, he got his timing down.

Saying Mayweather could have ended whenever he wanted is ignorant. He doesn't even have the punching power to do that. It was going to take wearing Mayweather down and hitting him with a volume of punches over several rounds.
your're just not smart if you dont think mayweather is all about the show

HE CAME OUT TODAY AND SAID HE LET IT GO BECAUSE HE FELT BAD ABOUT THE MANNY P FIGHT!!!!! WAkE UP

Without a doubt. One thing that will change after last night is how much Dana will be paying Connor from here on in. His previous top one fight check was $3 million. That will go to $10 million IMO

3-0 Conor.

Not a good idea for Floyd.

I can count about 30 times last night where Conor would've clinched and kneed Floyd's nose out the back of his head.

I know right? There were so many times last night when Mayweather left himself wide open for attacks that weren't at all part of the match/rules! If this had been a knife fight he'd probably still be in the hospital right now

Whatever. That's his style. That's what makes him good. It wouldn't work in MMA.

Anybody who thinks Mayweather could exist in MMA with no additions made to his current skill set is a fucking moron.

Like I (jokingly, I apologize if you thought I was attacking you, I suppose we aren't familiar with each other and I should have made that clearer) implied it seems rather difficult to project how someone would act under a totally different set of rules and circumstances.

I would be inclined to agree. It's a long thread so I haven't read it all, did someone say this?

Awesome. I'm kind of a snarky guy but I try not to cross the line unless I have a solid history with someone. You know how the internet can be

You are an absolute moron if you believe someone with a 49-0 record would risk becoming the first person to go 50-0, because he decided to 'let it go' for the fans.

He couldn't care less about the fans. He was getting paid whether it went 1 round or 12 rounds and it was his LAST FIGHT.

He didn't finish it sooner because.........he couldn't. There is a reason the last time he legitimately stopped someone was 10 years ago. He isn't a power puncher and hasnt been in a long, long time.
