Very interesting. Saw him in the preseason with the Giants. Saw him also in mop up duty vs the Saints a few weeks back. He is definitely a play maker , but something keeps getting him cut. He does have some character issues but if anyone can get him right I would think it would be Marinelli. This could be big if we can tap into his potential

Normally I would point to a bunch of reasons why this guy does not can't be expected to help us or doesn't belong on an NFL roster regardless of his draft position. But, since our DL is basically made up of a bunch of guys that were cut by other teams, all I can say is why not kick the tires...

Exactly - plenty of red flags with this one. One would think he is probably out of chances though and maybe he knows this as well. He made a play vs the Saints very late in the game when the Saints were up 3 TDs and he did a dance ha. He did the same thing in a preseason game with the Giants late in the game. The guy supposedly has a world of talent. I remember he didnt get to play his last year at UNC. He was projected at one time to be a top 5-10 pick. If it doesnt work out so be it- Im just glad we are trying

His wikipedia page says that he was heavily scouted by the Bears before the draft. Marinelli and Lovie were very interested it sounded.

I like this move. The talent is there, let's see if he can get it together. Coach him up Rob Marinelli.

This kid was a player in college. Wouldn't be surprised to see him pan out

agree. All he has to do is give max. effort and do what's asked of him and I bet RM can find a role for him.

how bout the kid that jumped offsides twice? You can bet he's history sooner than later.
Great opportunity in Dallas with a pretty good Dline coach

Here's a write up on him.
Talegating: Marvin Austin - It's All Over, Fat Man!
Besides being very immature person who does some stupid stuff without thinking I can't find to much on him. He had been kicked off UNC for taking money from an agent and seemed to be a discipline problem. I like the signing but I will expect him to fuck up soon and at the same time hope for the best. Talent wise he could be our DT going forward. Maybe he'll finally grow up now that he is on his 3rd NFL team in three years. Even an idiot has to realize the NFL doors will eventually shut forever.

The very first line (of hte linked story) really caught my attention.
"He doesn’t drink. He doesn’t smoke, and he doesn’t do any drugs." Makes me think if he has a Bipolar disorder like Spellman did.

well unless your Brain Dead you should understand the door to making millions only opens for a select few players and unless you have otherworldy talent it closes quick see Quincy Carter as an example

I hope for the best sounds like a talented kid worth a FA shot at very little cost if he effs up hes gone its that simple

You think this dude with his issues can derail the seemingly positive turn Dez has made. Hope this move don't hurt this team chemistry.....lucky defensive and offensive guys usually don't run in the same circle.

I think the fight with his mother woke him up. I wouldn't worry about this guy messing up where Dez is.

I was expecting Austin to be a solid starter in the NFL. Not sure why he has not developed. This could potentially be a great pickup

Maybe we need to arrange a little battle between Marvin and Dez's Mom???

If this kid gets his stuff all in 1 sock and plays to his potential we could have a real steal on our hands

Some guys take longer to mature than others. Hopefully the landscape in Dallas right now is just what he needs to grow.

Austin is the guy that ended Marc Sanchez's season with that hit he put on him in the preseason. I really love the acquisitions of Nevis and Austin on the interior of this d-line. I think we really got a steal in these two guys.

Anything low risk, high reward is good enough for me in todays NFL. With the way players get injured these days, sometimes the past problems and red flags have to get overlooked especially if you want to compete. 3rd time for Austin could be his charm. He has to know he is running out of chances. Marinelli supposedly really liked him coming out. Lets hope he can tap into that so called potential. If not, thats OK too. It wont work for everyone, however In Rod, Im beginning to Trust.
