Now that i think about it and I apologize if someone already brought this up but with the Martin DFA we will most likely see a Heredia/Dyson platoon in CF. Motter LF. Vogelbach/Valencia platoon 1B. I can understand why they don't want to dump Valencia yet but it will happen if he continues to struggle. Just like they can't keep Motter out of the lineup if he keeps hitting and as a utility man, he can play most positions.

Sounds about right. Until they see who is for real and who is going to get exposed:

vs RHSP
Dyson - CF
Vogelbach - 1B
Motter - LF

vs LHSP
Heredia CF
Valencia - 1b
Motter - LF

Motter could eventually factor in at first base as well. And he could factor in at third if Seager's injury proves to require a stint on the DL.

I agree, but would rather not see a non-outfielder play in the outfield anymore especially after all the talk about how defense is suppose to matter.
I hear ya.. fortunately Motter is still better in the outfield than a lot of the guys we have had in the past.

He had a terrible spring and it carried over into the regular season. He was also reverting back to the batting style that gave him some success last year but that didn't work either. This move is surprising since he played 15 games this season and i would rather see Valencia go. I think for now they're going to keep Valencia and platoon him at 1B w/Volgelbach.

More moves coming though since they have to deal with the Segura situation as well. As it stands Motter deserves to be in the lineup but where will they play him?

I could see him platooning at LF and 1B while filling in for Segura when he needs that occasional day off...

You think he should platoon? Platoon indicates being in the lineup against specific pitchers. I think he's done enough so far to be in the lineup everyday. Until he proves otherwise; i dont think you keep thE AB's away from him

nobody wanting to pick up great defending outfielder Martin for $4.5 million, but Dipoto took his .111 ass off the roster too early

seattle is a confused sports city

Probably the wrong wording... I don't see them making him the everyday 1B... They should try at the LF now that Dyson has moved to CF....

Have to feel for him (no one wants him??!!!) but boy am I glad he clears waiver. Could still get the call again if he just fix his shiet. I'm very sure we will see him again And i'm surprise no one picks him up, he's a decenf CF defensively.

I agree and that is odd. Maybe his old perception of not being coachable played a part?

I'm glad Martin is still in the organization, and will be starting in Tacoma tonight. Get the bat right and come up when needed.

Very surprised he made it through waivers, honestly. You would think someone would want him. Good news for us at least.
