Blowing up a title team was his own undoing. He blew up his team before letting them have a chance at repeating just so he could potentially add Dwight Howard and Darren Williams the following offseason. There's multiple layers to the irony there.

1) D-Will eventually made it to the Mavs, just years later where he was a shell of his former self.
2) Since they went to their respective teams, neither player really played at the level they were coveted at at the time.
3) Given point #2, it wouldn't have made a difference if Dallas landed them and Cuban's plan came to fruition or not.
