A game for the books. Team was basically solid all the way through with minor issues with the BP. Someone had said our BP was going to be one of the best but I don't quite see that yet. When we get the Z man, Cruz and Gamel back on board and if everyone stays healthy AND Servais does a job managing, this team can go places...good places. Looking forward to a potentially good season for the M's, maybe the best season in some years. I don't want to get too excited - the season is just getting off the ground. We should do well @ KC. They beat Cleveland today 1-0 on a bomb by Duda. I'm anxious to see how we do when we get back home with division games against the A's and Stros. The outcome following those games should give us a bit better read on what we are, or will, be looking at for the M's this season. There has been just enough smoke so far this season's start to think there just might be a fire sparking under that smoke. Sure hope so. Would love to see the M's get some of that respect back again so Go Mariners!! :hope: :thumb::yes:

Our barometer will be the 4 game set @ home with Houston in a couple weeks.

Our middle tier pitching can get away with some mistake pitches thru the course of a game with lesser opponents.
But when the other teams line up is: Springer Altuve Bregman Correara Reddick and Gattis, well .... there aint much room for making mistake pitches against those guys.

Any breakdown on our pitching offense defense or baserunning and they will exploit that weakness and beat us that game. That is what good teams do. And I doubt you need me to tell you Houston Astros is a GOOD team. But they will lose around 60-68 games this season. Our job is just to make sure they lose at least around 7 or 8 to us.

Is Dave Sims remotely capable of going more than one inning without talking about the fact that it's like 30 degrees over there? He acts like it's the most extreme weather a sporting event has ever been played in, my god.
Dude, little off topic but have you ever seen the tv show Brockmire? (anyone that sees this can get in on this) I find it hilarious.

Sims is Sims.. I kinda don't mind him that much anymore. When I was living in vegas I watched a lot of other games with different broadcasters and there is some strait up trash for broadcasters out there. After listening to some of those guys I really don't mind Sims, he is just making noise and trying to think of something to say. i like Blowers and I fucking love Ryan Rowland-Smith, just seems like a normal guy, and to be honest makes me laugh a bit because he says a lot of the same shit that we do here.

I'm still pretty confident in this bullpen over the long haul. Nicasio had a couple rough outings at first, but I think today he showed what got him here. Vincent is also very dependable, had some tough luck today with a couple bleeders. We have 2 lefty specialists. Altavilla looks like he may have his stuff together. Diaz may be one of the emerging better closers. I think they'll be challenged if they must consistently hold off a team for 4 innings a game, like any other bullpen would, but I would wager their numbers as a group will be top 3 in the AL when it's all said and done.

I have not seen or heard of it. Just looked it up and it sounds super interesting. I'll have to give it a watch. Thanks for the recommendation!

Can't recall ever seeing the Mariners (or any team for that matter) hit both foul poles in the same game. Good to see the offense show up after Thursday.

If it were to happen, it normally happens TO the M's. Maybe the tables have turned???? :)

Not trying to nit pick you but ...Technically Heredia HR hit the foul netting. But yea many consider that the foul pole also. And yes I agree that its a pretty rare feat and likely has not occurred too often with any team and possibly never the Ms

I thought it was coincidental how right after I commented how Heredia was always trying to yank the ball down the line for the 'shortest porch home run'.... he actually does it the very next game or so.

Was nice to see them lite up the scoreboard and get some contribution from a few struggling spots bottom half the line up.

Gonzales will give us a chance to win today ... but we gotta hit them for 5+ runs to get a W and a series win today. I think Gonzo serves up a couple long balls today. Lets just hope they are solo shots and not much damage. I see both Sano and Dozier going big fly today for MN ( off Gonzales )

And i think Cano picks up his 1st HR today off Lynn. Segura has a good shot at a HR today as well. And since Seager is known to hit them in bunches ... in for Kyle to hit a bomb as well :)

It’s crazy to think that our three losses have come from two Paxton starts and a Felix start. Definitely not how I would have imagined the season would start, but happy to see the production from this lineup even with 1/3 of the starters out; some big bats too. They’re gonna be potent when everyone is healthy.

I’m just ready for the regular flow of the schedule to kick in because these odd days and days off have made it difficult to see every game.

What a crazy start to the season... Seems like I haven't been able to watch many games so far due to them being played earlier than normal to start the first 2 weeks of their season and now the postponing of the game today... Also, crazy that after today, others in their division will have played 3 or 4 more games than them already...

Game with Twins will be made up on May 14th...

Shannon Drayer said:
The Mariners will now make a stop in Minneapolis Monday, May 14 on their way back from Detroit for a 6:10 CT game against the Twins and then return to Seattle for a 6 game home stand that begins May 15. On a positive note, the Mariners should have Nelson Cruz, Mike Zunino and Ben Gamel back for that game.
