This is what Mariners baseball is, always has been, and sure feels like always will be. At best you get a dick tease every now and then with a bit more false hope than a normal year that always ends the same way. This organization will NEVER win a world series. That's just how it is. Baseball in the NW is a distraction in the long football off season and not much more.

We're screwed!!!!!!! Look at the last 7 games in July and most of the games in August and it's going to remind us of the last 1 and 1/2 decades if Dipoto doesn't do his "magic" which probably won't happen. Oh well, there's always next season though.

I'm not writing the season off still time but JP can't sit on his ass and think this team is good enough to compete for a post season spot. Add a bat and starting pitcher then this team will compete.

Pretty sure they believe Cano coming back in a month is adding their bat, but they do need at least one solid arm added for sure.

That's fools gold with Cano. Sure he'll provide much needed offense but can't take him into the playoffs especially if they get the 1 game playoff. Have to add a bat that can play in post season. If that's JP's thinking then he should be hit with a trash can.

There's no doubt at all that this is their thinking. Not that he's going to go back to second base and middle of the lineup day in and day out, but his bat has the potential to be more impactful than almost any position player that might be available in a slot of need even if he's covering odd days off or coming off the bench.

They don't have a lot of bullets in the gun. Whatever chips they actually do have HAS to be devoted to pitching. They won't have the resources to pull off high level players for both hitting and pitching.

To be fair, I said it would be an epic situation in order for them not to coast in the WC game. It would have taken the Mariners playing sub .500 and some other team playing .900. Well the A's are playing .900 ball and the M's are playing .350.
