The last 16 years or so this franchise hasn't had many opportunities to play in big
Series. The few chances they have gotten they have failed including a couple weeks ago against the Yankees. Now this series I think qualifies as a chance to make a statement. I'd say this franchise is due so hopefully they play well this weekend

Nothing inspires confidence like a Yovani Gallardo start!

Although Gallardo has pitched well, i'm still waiting for him to give up the big inning... Hate feeling that way but it's tough to be confident in him... He always seems to give up a big inning or two... or three...

Well at least it was a 9 pitch out with a ball in play instead of a K for Z.

Two leads blown. Just can't seem to keep them for long.

Then again, it just wouldn't be the Mariners if they kept a close lead.

Yovani was commanding the lower strike zone. Too bad he didn't get the calls.

Need a robot to call balls and strikes. Pitchers shouldnt have to know the nature of each umpire. They should only have to know the nature of one strike zone. The home plate ump tonight was total bullshit.

Tough loss. Blowing leads in games like this can't be happening if they want in the wildcard. Gallardo was better than I expect him to be. Hope Paxton can shut them down tomorrow. Need to keep winning.

It's crazy how that .500 mark is just like gravity this year...

Just all too frustrating that this team tends to play some of its worst ball in big spots.

Seagar may have homered but two other times with guys on he couldn't produce and same with Cruz. Although that ball Valencia dropped just completely decided things in my mind. You cant do shit like that. Also I need an explanation on why this was the time to give Pagan his first high leverage opportunity. Tonight is pretty much a must win.

Which raises the question did someone step up and chew a little ass afterwards in the clubhouse after the game?
I know their "professionals" but sometimes and old school butt chewing can go a long ways as well.

Paxton is overdue for a stinker. The Royals are just the type of pesky team that can rattle Paxton. If he wins tonight, he'll find himself in the CY race. Well, make that in the race for CY runner up. Sale is light years ahead of everyone else. If Paxton had enough innings to qualify, he would be leading the league in ERA, third in WHIP and third in BAA.

Paxton has been due for a season like this. He has always had the stuff to pitch this way. Hopefully he stays healthy.

I went into last nights game expecting to lose, but when Gallardo throws like he did we need to find a way to win that game. As mentioned above, he was commanding the lower zone but the dipshit behind the plate was far too inconsistent to dominate. He would call a ball in the lower zone, and then the next pitch call a strike in the exact same spot. That kills rhythm for an already struggling pitcher that is hoping to get in a groove. I've been saying it for awhile and will continue to say it, this core needs to step up with RISP. Last night was blown opportunity after blown opportunity, we have to get these guys across home plate. Have to move on from that game and get the next two to guarantee a split. We can't afford a loss from either Paxton or Felix at this point, the bats need to show up.

Excited for the game today.

This is one of the first times I've tuned into the pre-game show (I'm at work) and my God these guys are such propaganda machines. I know why they're super pro-Mariner, but I feel like a lot of the fans would appreciate some more critique of the team.

Some random M's related stats that ya'll might find interesting:

-Nelson Cruz is currently leading the AL in RBIs at 80.

-Robinson Cano is #3 with 75 RBIs, tied with Aaron Judge.

-James Paxton currently is rocking a 2.68 ERA, if he qualified, he would be leading the AL in ERA. Chris Sale currently has a 2.70, which leads the AL.

-Seager is currently having somewhat of a down year, but is tied for 9th in the AL with 28 doubles.

-Jarrod Dyson, one of my favorite M's is tied for the AL lead in stolen bases with Cameron Maybin with 25 stolen bases. Additionally, Dyson has hit a career high 5 HRs this year. Given the depth that the M's have in the outfield, Dyson is easily replaceable, but I'd really love to see him wearing an M's uniform next year.

Well, to add to my 75th straight post,

Congrats to Robbie getting career double #500. Future hall of famer right there.
