It's not official until the press conference as we have all learned but sounds like a good day for Texas, WVU AND the B12!

Word from a WVU alum in TX is that some at TX want to join the BIG10 but they know OL would never go for it as it would hurt WVU. Not sure as to the truth of that but I for on am glad he is staying.

First time I have heard that one. I think Texas would actually lose money with that move.

I am still waiting for the anti-luck group to start saying "well he doesn't want to be here, can him" talk....lol

Since the B1G has their own third tier network and Texas would have to give up LHN, you could be very right.

The B11 has a longstanding bylaw that says any new school must be from a state that touches a current state with a B11 school in it. Texas is a big jewel, but to comply with the bylaw, they would have to get three more schools, as they are two states from Texas whichever way they go. I have been reading that Texas and the B11 have talked for several years, but dont see it going anywhere. The more likely thing is what almost happened a few years ago, IAST and KU go to the B11, I think we will see the SEC make a grab for Texas and Oklahoma soon, and if they do not, the PAC will.
Anyway, while I do not like a lot of what Luck has done, changing horses in the middle of the changes going on right now could spell doom for WVU athletics.

As I mentioned on another thread...I would have been mildly surprised if Luck went to Texas...It's the highest profile job in the country and he would have been foolish not to go thru the process of interviewing, but there is still alot to be done at Wv...and without a doubt he is the best man for the job....

Why would they want to Join the Big10?...they have by all aspects a better deal than Notre Dame does with televison revenues...they lose money if they go to the Big 10

Stability for the long term, the future of the B12 is still in doubt, there is no doubt about the future of the B11.

Texas is worried about the stability of the Big 12. Makes sense...

The only way the Big 12 becomes unstable is if they decide to leave.

There are internet rumors circulating that some Texas boosters want the Big 10. Academic money dwarfs anything football can bring to the table.

Not that Texas has any money concerns to begin with...

The future of the ACC is in doubt as well. They have also been raided. And you forget, the ACC is now the poor kid on the block.

I think we are fine for a good while, do I think conf's at some point will get back to regional by trading schools.....yes.

Even with that WVU is improving its standing with the changes to the sports programs and will never be left out in the dark

If Texas or Oklahoma wanted to go somewhere they would have when they had the chance...

UHHHHH, They WANTED to go, but the last minute rebuff by the PAC due to the LHN caused them to pull the invites. I think we will see the four sixteen team leagues form, stay around for a while, then due to internal conflicts, break up into eight eight team leagues. I think that nine teams is the best for a league, everyone plays everyone, even home and away schedule, four OOC games, and a real conference champ.

I just do not see the ACC being in doubt now, they lost ONE team, and that was to the B11, the richest conference of them all for the schools. The shared research money among the B11 schools makes the receipts of the athletic departments look like chump change. The ACC has fourteen teams now, so their GOR is pretty well fool proof, where are nine teams going to go? The B12 on the other hand is the only league that the PAC will look to when they decide to go to 16, where will the B11 look???? The B12 screed up big time by not going hard after FSU and Clemson last time, they did EXACTLY what the BE did, sat on their hands and reacted to other's moves.
