Good news, a relief. Lots of bitching on social media that we basically got away with murder, but it's about what I expected. Other teams did more or less the same thing or close enough; you can't rightfully smoke us for it and ignore the others.

Hopefully a lesson learned though.

PHEW what a relief. We REALLY need the second round pick this year to hopefully snag an O-Lineman. I'm not a fan of the late 1st projections for O-Line (and think we should REALLY go secondary with our 1st as there is a TON of safety/DB/CB talent in this draft) but if we lost the 2nd we might've had no choice given the GLARING need at OT despite injuries.

We should get a 1st, 2nd, and two 3rds hopefully with a Bruce Irvin compensatory pick. That would allow us to grab Obi Melifonwu as a potential trade down to early 2nd (pick up 4th) as a replacement for Kam Chancellor (namely just talking money here guys), an OT in the 2nd, and D-Line (pass rush ONLY specialist)/CB with the two 3rds, back to O-Line in the 4th trade.

Lane and Chancellor (unless Thomas retires) can both take a hike as far as I'm concerned in 2018. Save that money and put it elsewhere. $40-45M is currently locked up in the secondary. Remove Wilson from the offense and that's more than the ENTIRE offense (backup included) and nearly twice as much as the entire defensive line. That's WAY too much locked up in a secondary. I don't care HOW good your secondary is. Put them on the field too much and don't get the pass rush (also determined by how much on the field) and $100M in the secondary isn't gonna cut it.

I feel the league would have hammered us if the Bell/Steelers situation didn't come up a few weeks ago for the same thing. Got lucky with this one.

Great news, indeed... We need to build "quality" depth on this team again and losing that 2nd wouldn't have helped... Keeping the 2nd, along w/ the comp picks will be a huge bonus...

Speaking of the draft.... Here is a mock that has us picking Forrest Lamp with our #1 ....

Forrest Lamp - G/T - Western Kentucky. Can play inside or outside and is exactly what the Seahawks look for in an offensive lineman. Check out his game against Alabama — he won more than his fair share of battles against some of the best pass rushers in the college game. Needs: Offensive line, cornerback, defensive tackle, running back, wide receiver.

The thing i read about lamp is his arms are really short, possibly too short to play T in the nfl.

If we are going G, dan feeney would be a better pick if he is there

I don't see the Hawks using a 1st rounder on an OL personally... I think they'll go DL, LB with their 1st two picks...

I would put CB in there too, could be a few good ones at 26.

Totally depends on how the draft falls out. If there's a 1st round talent still available, they go O-line, unless there's a potential all-pro type D linemen or CB there instead.

If there's a big run on T's especially, then absolutely they draft BPA.

there wont be any Ts worth taking at 26, its a really weak OL draft and there simply wont be a day 1 starter at LT, even the RTs that will be available are projects.

i think we go into next year with the same OL, i dont think they make one change.

Well, they will have some playoff experience and another year under there belt, so they should improve, ... I would expect them to possibly make a move in free agency if a good O-lineman is available... WE do need another good corner opposite of Sherman... FOR SURE... Were kinda weak at corner now... Were the LO, missing the B ...

If anything, RT. Gilliam has not shown he is an nfl starter in the 2 years he had.

Nice. Really wanted to make sure we locked up that 3rd for Irvin. That gives us 4 picks in the first 3 rounds. Guys drafted in 5, 6, 7 are likely to get cut anyway. Hopefully we get a Sherman/Maxwell/Chancellor out of it but not holding my breath.

Still, with 1, 2, and x3 hoping we snag:

1st/2nd:
OT
CB/S/DT

3rds:
DT/CB/S/OT (best in slots since it'll all be end of 3rd)

4th/5th (if we get 4th from a trade):
OLB (need to replace Morgan since he's likely gone, we used the 3rd lineback like < 15% of our snaps so we don't need someone insane here).

Ideally trade back our 1st and collect another 4th while we're at it if we're targeting someone early-mid 2nd.

Maybe snag another offensive lineman (Albert, Okung, Whitworth) in free agency for filler and hope Ifedi improves and we get a bit more healthy. Ifedi started out the year injured (in camp I believe too) and he out of ALL the O-Lineman in rounds 1-3 was by far the most raw... I think that REALLY set him back.

Will also add, IF Denver picks up Okung's option (they'd be INSANE to) I THINK that turns into possibly another 3rd or 4th.

Oh and forgot Albert was already traded to Jags... hopefully we can get Whitworth. He's like 34 but doesn't miss a lot of games and played VERY well for the Bengals.

I wouldn't complain having a veteran O-lineman added, but he is 34 now, drafted in 2005, that's a lot of wear and tear... I don't think his best NFL day's are in-front of him... That's the only downside to free agency, your team can get old really quick....

Yah but our O-Line is so abysmal and I doubt we're going to be able to solve it completely via draft. We need TWO OTs... so we can draft one and start them at the RT position... until they can convert to LT and possibly move Ifedi to RT (which is what Carroll/Cable are hoping for) in a year or so while hopefully being somewhat competitive with a veteran presence on the line and at the blindside position...

Yeah, but he's so past his prime.. I would hate to see us give up any big money for an aging player like that... I hear what your saying though, it would be nice to lock down that blind side... But maybe look for a younger option if available, someone that will be around for a while...

eh boogie we can only fix so much. Ifedi is going to be FOR SURE another year at RG, we HAVE to hang onto Justin Britt, he's actually very good at center, outside of that good God. We just need SOMEONE with some veteran experience to step in.

We have some money to spend, maybe we can get a 1-2 year deal, or maybe even get Okung back (UGH!?).

We're just in a shit position overall, bro. I really don't know what to say. :(

Feel like a FA signing 1-2 year deal like Andrew is kind of like a K. Williams signing. "Want a ring? Help us out maybe?" Otherwise we're going to lose too many good years of our current players.
