I don't understand why they didn't. Losing a 2nd is tough but the rules are the rules.

Bullshit... I was kinda expecting it'll be later rounds but 2nd round is harsh.
Let's not forget the Hawks are also losing a 5th round pick due to off-season violations. Not off to a good start so far.

I don't believe Carroll for a second when he claimed he didn't know but I came here to talk about it because I agree, a 2nd for something teams do all the time is way too harsh.

Seattle made their own bed with this. Pete f***ed up royally. I get wanting to protect the player, but what a colossal screw-up.
They're a repeat violator of the rules, and we all know the hard-on Goodell gets for repeat violators (everyone in New England is nodding).

Of course, the Colts were caught in inury report lying last year with Luck and his ribs and got no punishment, so who the hell knows.

They won't be losing an additional pick, the previous pick will just be 'upgraded' to whatever the final penalty will be for all of the violations for this past year. Which means that Seattle will get their fifth rounder back in exchange for whatever current pick they will lose.

Well this is going to hurt for sure. Stupid move by the Seahawks. This is a strong draft this year, losing a second would be painful, really painfully. Doesn't pay to get cute.:gaah:

Agreed... Rules are the rules... Gotta abide by them or there are consequences...

At least we'll pick up a few high comp picks for Bruce Irvin and Okung... That'll take the sting out a bit...

I wouldn't be surprised if this is all Bevell's fault...

I won't be surprised if we get hit with the penalty, but I do think we have something on our side. Sherm never missed a practice or a game to this injury. That being said, if we do lose it I would almost guarantee that we trade out of the first; which is a high probability anyways.

I could see us trading down if a guy they really want badly isn't available when the pick comes to us... We need to build up our depth again so that could definitely be the case...

Unless you heard something different, we already lost a 5th for the illegal offseason workouts.

This is new and the discussion is a 2nd rounder.

The issue as someone brought up, is when you list a guy as did not participate or limited but don't list the condition, for some players at the caliber of Sherman who knows. Could be they want him to recover from a minor illness, rest, take some time off in the study room, etc.

If you know his knee is a little bum going into the game, a CB that is traditionally not targeted may get targeted a lot more. I understand why the penalty is harsh. A team may go in and say, "Eh limit your throws to Sherman" vs. "Sherman has a bum knee. Take it if you see it."
