Great news. We still get to see balls bounce over Shuck's head.

Can you say, money NOT so well spent?

Ryan Madson‘s tenure with the Angels is officially over. According to Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com, the team [ame=""]announced this evening[/ame] that the injured reliever has been released.
After missing the entire 2012 season following Tommy John surgery, Madson signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Angels last November. The plan called for him to serve as the team’s closer this season, but numerous setbacks with his surgically-repaired elbow prevented him from ever pitching for the club. The closest he got was a single minor league rehab appearance back on May 13.
Gonzalez [ame=""]reported at the end of July[/ame] that Madson’s rehab had “plateaued again,” so it’s highly unlikely we’ll hear from him again this season. The 32-year-old hasn’t pitched in the major leagues since the NLDS in 2011, so he’s not going to have another multi-million dollar contract waiting for him this winter.

Start of game FAIL!

BIG props from me for Wilson, for having a sense of humor about things.

Man this board is dead.

It's too bad the Angels decided to wait until Sept. to finally start playing some good ball.

They're not going to catch the A's.

Disappointed seeing the likes of Price and Lester not coming to Anaheim. Somewhat with Lackey too. The Angels solidified their bullpen. The backend of their rotation is pretty sick now. They are a little weak at the starting pitching position though. Hopefully Skaggs is alright and Wilson can come back and give them something.

Only 2 back now. I wouldn't count them out. Losing Cespedes leaves a big a hole in the A's lineup. Not to mention that arm in the outfield.

Their rotation is bulletproof and the loss of Cespedes isn't enough to slow them down. Over the long haul, the A's are built for winning more games than the Angels. I wish it weren't so but we weren't in a position to deal at the deadline!

Dropping down to second place has made the A's fans a bit quieter than usual.

What a bummer losing GRich. He's been putting up Cy Young numbers. Skaggs also gone for the season. Their starting rotation is their weak spot and obviously just got a lot worse. That lights out bullpen will have to keep it up to stay on top.

Hey, Pujols raised his average to a solid .213 last night so stop complaining about Albert. The real problem for the Angels was at the end of Spring Training 2014 when they unceremoniously cut the legendary Joe Blanton. Yeah, Joe had an "off year" in 2013 when his record was 2-14. But was that any reason to cut him? This guy had great entertainment value for the fans. Looked goofy. Wore a cheesy goatee and ridiculous baseball socks. Gave up a ton of gopher balls. Attacked the water cooler with the best of them. Come on, Jerry DiPwad, bring Joe back and make him the #1 starter for those Anaheim Angels of Wherever. :D
