It looks like for a draft pick next year. No mention yet of what round pick it is.

I am not sure I understand this one, the dline was already very weak and the Lions did not address it in the draft. Adding a future pick is nice, but we don't need the salary cap space and are desperate for dline players.

It's likely contingent on Spence making the 53-man roster. The Dolphins had a strong need for a defensive tackle. Spence made it just one season into his "three-year, $9 million deal" with the Lions but had a serviceable campaign. He notched three sacks and forced a fumble in 16 games/11 starts, earning slightly negative marks from Pro Football Focus. He's not going to make Dolphins fans forget Ndamukong Suh. Suh, the greatest Lion ever, was let go by current Burger King regional manager Martin Mayhew.

He needs to learn how to contain on the edge. He was terrible against the run last year. Hopefully they use him more as a 3-4 end.

As far as Spence goes, this is just wishful thinking on the Lions part. My guess is his injury last year was worse then they thought and they would have had to cut him anyway or worse give him an injury settlement.

I hope we get Shelton. We got crushed on the ground after Bloaty Ngata got hurt last year. A run stuffer takes pressure off the LBs to take on full-speed, down-hill RB’s. Huge need for this defense.
