The original batmobile goes to auction this weekend in AZ. It'll bring 7 figures and reminded me that some of the best design advancement have been by Lincoln designers.

I drove a Lincoln Blackwood for 5 years. The quality was very high and I got comments on it all the time.

They have a chance to get their mojo back with the new Town Car. Hope they don't fuck it up too badly.

Lincoln is definitely synonimous with high quality since day one. I love the classics, but the newer range is up there. Don't like the designs though, but I'm really not into modern cars.

The only Lincoln I had that was redonkilous was a 1978 Mark V I had in college in 1989. I looked just like this with ghetto white walls, white fabric roof, white leather int., etc. The 460 cu in. engine is what they used in ambulances n' shit back then.

I paid $3k for it and had no problems at all. But it was just stupid. The hood was way longer than the seating area! It probably weighed 5k pounds and almost none of it had to do with where you sit.

LOL, and even with that 460 it wasn't that quick becase of the insane amounts of steel. And I bet cornering it in took an hour and a half.

Good times in those old boats. Like the main-line model Ford Thunderbird of the 80's. Tried to get too fancy and away from the exciting cars. Luckily Ford and Lincoln are getting some designers back in place that have some imagination and balls.

Since driving a Lexus makes one a feg lemming and Porshes are mostly just turbo VW bugs, it looks like Lincoln topped the dependability list this year:

^ That's a really good site...had never heard of it.

Review: 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid | The Truth About Cars

Ten years ago I would never have considered comparing a Lincoln to a Lexus, but times change and with Lincoln heading up market with their latest product refreshes and Lexus searching for their soul in the mass market, the stars have finally aligned. And nothing out of Detroit strikes so closely the heart of the Japanese competition as the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. After all, reliable entry-level luxury and hybrid tech are two things the Japanese mastered long before anyone else. Is it possible for an American company to beat Lexus at their own game?

Had one of these boats when I was 23.
Had a cb radio built in to a mic that plugged into the bottom of the dash that was factory.
Seemed way cool at the time.
