Which means we probably won't see him until 2020
Well, that sucks.
Why does this always happen when they get here?
Just so many potential greats that go down once they get to America.Usually it is because by the time they get here they already have a ton of innings they have pitched. Ohtani is just bad luck, hopefully this is a 1 time thing not the start of a long injury history

Sometimes I think organizations see power arms as expendable these days. They only pitch once a week there. They every 5 days thing may be the issue. That and everyone seems to get the TJ surgery these days

It's not like we're short on guys that throw mid to upper nineties anymore.

Travel teams prolly a big part of the problem with American arms. They seem to be able to crank out relievers that throw in the high 90's left and right. The starters are harder to come by. I think so many of these kids play baseball all year round where in the past they'd play baseball for a few months, maybe some football or Lacrosse other times of the year etc. And a lot of these travel team coaches are looking to go to the next level and will over use kids to win. Or the kids play in multiple leagues so by the time they're 20 their elbows and shoulders have taken a beating.
wanna feel older?Just so many potential greats that go down once they get to America.
