Lebron is in complete control of where he is going and what big talent will be playing with him.
He will be the de facto general manager of his future team if he is not already.

It this little detail you have to remember at the end of the season when you hear the phrase:

"You can't blame Lebron ..he can't do it all himself"

You can blame him when he controlled everything.

You mean Pau Gasol for Marc Gasol, Javaris Crittendon, 2 1sts, and salary filler?

That person is a complete moron.

Marc Gasol is a pretty damn good player.

Again, stick to telling us what your dinner plans are - it's the only thing you're good at!

At the time the deal was heavily in favor of the Lakers. Nobody knew what Marc was going to be like.

At the time it was for Kwame Brown, Crittendon, the 2007 48th pick and two 1sts.

You telling me that was a fair trade?

That's why it takes a few years to judge a fair trade......not 5-10 minutes after it happens....

Just because he is a free agent, doesn't mean he will leave Cleveland though - He could decide to go back if Cleveland were to make the right moves. For example if Cleveland were to perform a miracle like getting Paul George and Leonard - They would just walked on water. Granted that's not likely to happen, but stranger things have happened - just saying

Do they have the money to do all of that though? I mean wasn't Lebron going to get $35 million himself or something like that if he remained in Cleveland?

We we're talking about a trade as it happens not years down the line.

If Ingram becomes the leagues new superstar in a couple of years time people will be looking at the Spurs like fools for not trying to get him right now.

I think they might have bird rights if he went back to Cleveland, if not then no they don't - they would really have to dump a lot of salary fast which is the reason the others have already said it's not going to happen - If I had to assign a chance - I'd say about 1% chance

At the time, no. In retrospect? Much closer. Marc has been a career player for the Grizz and a very good one at that.

This trade shows the unknown aspect of trading for draft picks though. The 2 firsts didn't amount to much (Grizz traded the first one with other picks for Darrell Arthur, used the second one on Greivis Vasquez), Crittendon flamed out quickly, and it's the late 2nd rounder Marc Gasol that becomes the cornerstone of their franchise.

The Lakers in return got Pau who helped them to three finals and two championships.

Even in retrospect the Lakers won that one.

If lebron wanted to stay in cleveland, why would he opt out? Isn't he going to be making LESS next year now if he stayed?

It seems Bron Bron is bound for LA for sure. He won't win anything there, but he can lose with the purple and gold jersey on.

It all depends on who else goes there with him or next summer.

The W's window is shrinking.....they have to re-sign Thompson next summer and Green the following summer.

Shrinking? You say that as if they haven't won 3 titles in 4 years. "windows shrinking" is for teams whose cores haven't won anything of substance while together. That's not the Warriors.

imo they've at LEAST have another 2 or 3 title runs in them...

just have to be creative as far as how they spend their players money...

I would argue that a prime Marc would've done the same. He just never had a player of Kobe's caliber to pair with.
