I'm scratching off a bucket list item to attend your home opener against my Seahawks. Plan is to fly into Chicago Saturday and spend the night at the midway point near Milwaukie.
Since this will most likely be my only visit to Lambeau in this lifetime I wish to partake in some tailgating and make the most of it.
No problem in getting into GB early Sunday morning and am not in a hurry to get out of town as soon as the game is over.
I have seen online hosted tailgate parties at some of the local clubs and that is not out of the question. So, if you were getting one shot to visit Lambeau as an opposing (yet respectful-especially on away turf) fan, what would you suggest?
TIA

From my one and only experience at Lambeau back in 96 was just showing up early and tailgating with all the common folk :D in the parking lot. I had a great time. What I hear time and time again is, opposing team fans are treated like guests and have a good time.

Truth.

There are really only three opposing teams that don't have quite the same level of unanimous hospitality once the beer has been flowing for hours. Visiting Bears, Vikings and Cowboys fans tend to bring a little extra hostility with them which tends to erode the hospitality as the day progresses.

That said, the last time I was in Lambeau for a game I brought my son with me and we sat right next to a couple of female Vikings fans and still had a good time - just with a little extra light-hearted ribbing both ways.

Yea, That's going to happen. I believe that has a lot to do with some people cant handle their liquor and act a fool. I've been to a couple of different stadiums(Including AT&T stadium) and didn't have any issues. I like to think I can handle my liquor so im sure that had a lot to do with it.

Thanks for the responses and I will check back soon for more.
I am a long term Seahawk STH'r and have taken the oldest son to about 100 home games. I asked him if we planned to do a road game, where would he want to go? We both picked Lambeau.

I've been to Green Bay 5 times, 5 1/2 hr drive for me, and don't like that drive after the game since obviously tailgating before. My 1st 2 times were with 3 other guys and we used a ticket broker, 1 price for tickets and 2 night at the Best Western a few blocks away, that was awesome. Next 2 times found a loophole and order tickets for same hotel right after the Super Bowl and got them for $80/night.

They caught onto that. NOW you have to buy 2 nights at most closer hotels. Last time was with wife, son, and one of his friends....hotels were $250-300 per night times 2....rather pricey.

There is a decent tailgate party in the parking lot of Favre's Steakhouse...last time I was there was $25 with beer and food included.

On a side note, I have been to Soldier Field once with my Green Bay gear and was absolutely raped verbally around every corner. Anything from men, women, 9 year old kids....very juvenile and actually, I was rather embarrassed for them.

My 5 times in GB, I have seen fans of the opposing team repping their team's colors and don't think I EVER saw a Packer fan disrespect them.

Probably because Bear's fans believe they're part of the show...I still recall the moron on MNF that jumped into the walkway to catch a XP and his interview was hilarious.

I see that you are coming on on Sat and working your way up to Lambeau. Not sure if you have your room yet but if not would recommend a place on the north side of Milwaukee. There are two ways to get up to Lambeau with Interstate 43 right along the lake and Interstate 41 in the west side on Milwaukee. I would recommend stayong at some hotel north of Milwaukee near one of those interstates. The Seahawks will be staying at the Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton. This is where all visiting teams stay. Depending on when you land at Chicago and can get up past Milwaukee maybe you would have time to roam around that hotel and see some Seahawk players on Sat night.

It is hard to get rooms close to Green Bay as once the schedule comes out the hotels get sold out quickly. There may be rooms in Oshkosh orFon Du lac, near Interstate 41 and Sheboygan near Interstate 43.

As far as parking in Green Bay it depends on how early you get up there but when I drive on my own I just park for free on the street near by and walk to the stadium area but the later you get there the longer the walk. There is paid parking all around the stadium in peoples yards or businesses parking lots which is usually $20 to $30.

Back in the day when I first started going to games in the early 90s I always parked in the stadium parking lot getting in line waiting for the gates to open 4 hours before the game started. Back then you just gave the attendant $20 and you could get in the stadium parking lot and pick your spot to set up the grill and get the party going. Now days the parking passes are all sold online and you cant just drive up with cash to park in the stadium lots.

For tailgating the best experience in my opinion is to tailgate with the regular folk who all do there own cooking with all kinds of different traditions and recipes. That is a bit tough when flying as you arent bringing your own grill and such. The thing is though that if you just walked around the lost surrounding the stadium you could pretty much join in to almost any party going on and they would feed ya. There are tailgate parties put on by businesses in the area as well that have already been mentioned. The Packers also just finished building a permanent Tailgate Village on the east side of the stadium in the parking lot. This link will give all the info

Packers host grand opening for Johnsonville Tailgate Village

After the game the parties generally continue in the parking lot. There is also a casino over near the airport. It is to bad you are not coming in on Friday and have all day on Saturday to check out the history and the early NFL. There is the Packer Hall of fame with history and the Packer Heritage Trail and also stadium tours avaliable

Heritage Trail another reason to love Packers history

I will most likely not be able to meet and get you a beer as mentioned before. I am a member of a fan club called the Madison Packer Backers. It is a club of roughly 400 people and this club owns 70 season tickets which we share where we bring up 2 buses per game and we each go to roughly 4 games a year as it is almost impossible to get season tickets. The reason I will most likely not be able to meet is that our club put in a request to be one of the groups that helps present the large flag that covers the whole field during the national anthem. Our club had its request granted and we will be one of the groups unrolling and holding the flag down on the field.

Because if this the group I come up with on the bus will have to be at the flag practice session that is held at the Packer indoor facility where those presenting the flag have to meet to be shown what to do and that begins at like 1pm. Once I get up on my bus ride I will have to go right to the flag practice and then from there into the stadium so will have no free time before the game.

It could work to get you a beer after the game though. Our bus will be parked at a club right next to the stadium called Kroll's West it is on the west side of the stadium not far from the new Lodge Kohler hotel and would have time to get a beer there if you could make it over there before the bus leaves.

I just got back from my 2 week stay in Seattle to remodel my daughters bathroom. Got back last weekend so have been back a week. The weather was fabulous mid 70s every day and no humidity and was able to see the eclipse. The bathroom turned out great as well. My daughter lives over in Redmond and is a high school band teacher in the area. My son inlaw just got his PHD from Uni of Wash and just started his career working for a tech company that makes computer chips

I moved up the ranks to Head Drummer in a 168 piece HS marching band. 21 of us bums in the drumline. Good for her.

Oh, and thanks for the post.

She teaches at a big school like 1600 or 1700 kids when she got there 5 years ago there were like 40 kids in the whole band when she got hired and starting this school year there will be 150 so she has done a great job building it up where kids are wanting to join.

LL, thanks for the informative post. I appreciate the time you took to prepare it.
Grats on your son's PHD. Bet you are proud of him!
Glad you had a nice stay over on our side of the nation.
Haven't picked a hotel yet. Arrive in Chi at about 5pm Saturday. Departing 9 am Monday. Was thinking of staying near Milwaukie as it is the mid point between Chi and GB. Will investigate the locations near $! and 43 you mentioned.
We won't be in a rush to leave after the game so I'd be pleased to buy you a beer. Rumor is most of you folks like Miller! I understand your group is on a schedule so we can see if we can move quickly for a quick meet.
Very cool that your club was selected to be on the field for the flag event.

Ah with the time you are arriving on Saturday there will not really be time to get to the Seahawk hotel until around 9 or 10pm and I am guessing not much will be going on at that time in the night before a game.

What section are your tickets in? Yes sad to say I do have to be on the bus when it leaves. It usually tries to leave about 45 min to 1 hour after the game is over by the time everyone gets back and situated in their seats. The bus I use parks behind a club/restaurant called Kroll's West. It is on Ridge Rd which is on the west side of the stadium just south of the new hotel they built called Lodge Kohler off the southwest corner of the stadium. Krolls west has a good crowd there pregame and always has live music outside and many people like to party there. I will private message my cell #

We are in 125. A beer after the game would be tight but maybe before the game or at the half. Swap cells is a ok.

I've never been to Lambeau, but have tailgated at numerous events in Wisconsin.

Best pregame parties. Period.

Ok you will be close to the south east corner of the stadium and after the game there is an exit right at the south side that is close to the Krolls West. I will not know where I am sitting for the game until that morning when I get to the bus and an handed my ticket. The tickets the club owns are spread out in pairs, or groups of 3 or 4 through out the stadium they are not all in one group. I am given my ticket when I get to the bus from the person who decides who gets what ticket so I could be anywhere but if I am close to your area halftime could work. I can text you Sunday once I know what is going on.

What row are you in? If you get above row 45 or so it is easier to go the upper level concessions to get beer or any of the other things offered.
