Lakers season starts Wednesday vs. Houston.

I don't see us winning more than 30 games (35 at best), but I think this team is going to be fun too watch develop.

2-6 preseason record is realistic and is definitely a result of the new atmosphere that Luke has brought to the franchise as opposed to the 0fers we have had in the past. Granted, preseason games are not all that important in the W-L column but they do provide indicators of base styles of play and the overall purpose of the franchise and its implied directions and goals. I like what I am seeing so far. This could be a better season from a lot of perspectives.

I agree. Anything less will not be good.

Considering how strong the West is, I could see them winning fewer than 30 (say 25 or so) and still being fine with it.

Virtually anything would be better than last seasons 17 wins. Learning to win in the NBA isn't easy and not only is the core really, really young, but we have a new coaching staff as well.

If they can get to 25-30 wins and look like a better team at the end of the season than the beginning. I will be happy.

If they can win 35 games...my wife better prepare herself because I'm pretty sure the erection will last more than 4 hours. lol

I am tired of this. 25 wins is not enough improvement for me. That would not be good. You really have a lower bar. 4 years of this have been enough for Laker fans. 30 to 35 should be the goal.

This is the true first year of the re-build. Last year was about Kobe, so there really wasn't the development of the players that there should have been.

Extremely young core, new coaching staff, new style of play...it's going to take a bit to put it all together. I agree that 30-35 wins should be the goal, but 25 or so wins and being a better team by the end of the season is acceptable progress, imo.

I think 30-35 is reasonable, hopefully accompanied by lucking into keeping their draft pick in the lottery (lol).

Probably why they got rid of him. :dhd:

Seriously though, they were talking about this on KLAC today. Sounds like Brown just hasn't really panned out and wasn't going to be part of what Luke wants to do. Better to cut him loose and see if he can catch on with another team that may have use for him.

As for keeping MWP...he has proven to be good veteran presence in helping with the development of the youngsters. So, while he won't play any more than Brown would have, at least he contributes his knowledge and experience.

Brown hasn't really improved, and should be easily replaceable in the next draft (or even now from the other cast-offs). If Young is staying, that makes Brown/Metta essentially the 4th SF, so neither is really needed, depth wise. They should be on the lookout for a SG (maybe RJ Hunter, Archie Goodwin, Brandon Paul, Jordan Adams?).

True...I just really liked Brown's grit and hustle.

:L Scott had last seasons team so screwed up it may take a season or two for Luke to turn the ship around, but if they only get 30 wins this season I won't be watching anyway. I only have enough emotional room for one loser sports team at a time... :gaah:

Guess who took the Lakers +6.5 and the over 223.5?

Only bet 40 on the Lakers covering but 139 on the over. Should have bet 500-800.

Tie ballgame in the fourth. This team is definitely different. We now go up by one with 2 and change left.

Nice instruction by Deng on Russell who screwed up. With Metta and Deng, Luke has some nice player/coaches for the young guys.
