I meant right now. Even though it's this early, I am more than willing to bet that they don't have a prayer of taking the division from Texas or the A's and it has nothing to do with current records. Pujols/Hamilton won't work and their starting rotation sucks and the baseball world knows it. They have serious issues. They're the easiest team in baseball to beat right now.

I'm not saying we don't suck. But then again, our payroll is less than Pujols is making and we're still a better team than the Angels.

The difference between the Padres & Angels is the Angels have a liineup that will allow them to bounce back. The Padres are a mess. Maybin stinks & he was supposed to be a star. With so many teamss needing a closer Street should be on the market. If Gregorson wasn't busy blowing games I'd dump him too.

The only bright spot for the Padres is the farm system. They have some really good players coming in 1 to 3 years.

We vastly overpaid Street and I'm not sure any team is willing to take that contract. I still believe in Luke though and see him as an even hotter commodity. I'm pretty concerned about Maybin and just don't see him hitting for average or power. Though I do think we're going to get on a roll and have one of our typical streaks of winning, we were set up for failure coming into this season. For a team built on defense and pitching, we suck at both.

The pitching staff in Fort Wayne has some SICK numbers. I think Street can be dealt. His contract isn't an albatross. If the Angels can dump Vernon Wells the Pads shouldn't have a problem getting a decent return for Street.
