why bother

That's more like it!

Your team was projected to be bottom 5 or 6 in the league. Porzingas looks great. They are overachieving.

Stop complaining and enjoy it!

yea man i get it, but , from my vantage point , hornysuk to me is not one of the better coaches in this league, and man, hardaway sucks...

* you cannot get beat so badly by a division rival like last nite ... sorry!!! you play each other year after year more then any other team in league. its inexcusable!

I get it,

But there are literally about 2-3 teams in the entire league whose coach significantly impacts the game. They are all smart people week schooled in the world of the NBA.

"Bad coaches" may not really be all that bad, they have simply lost the locker room for one reason or another, sometimes by no fault of their own. Hornacek surely isn't great, but he isn't bad either. I think the team's performance this year is proving that.

Coaches who try to take full control today are the bad ones. It doesn't work. Certainly not in the NBA. All the top coaches understand that the coach player relationship is a partnership, not a dictatorship.

Steven, Pop, etc. have earned respect from their players in large part because they go e them voice and listen to their opinions. Doesn't work any other way. Old school methods have been proven less effective.

it doesn't work cause none of them have the balls to do it! i don't care what level a player is today, they need TOUGH LOVE! thats how you get respect! thats how you get them to play up to their potential! why do you think most coaches SUCK in NBA, and college coaches don't? cause they get through to the player where the nba coach are a bunch a puzzies! why don't most college coaches want to coach in the NBA?

Wrong.

In college, coaches are the entire program. They have the leverage. Players are completely replaceable because the most talented are only there for a year. It is the exact opposite in the NBA.

Even then, most of the best college coaches aren't the dictators you claim they are. You literally couldn't be more wrong if you tried.

Wtf! What’s with the dictator schitt? U been watching too much CNN! Look you could tell me till your blue in the face, what separates the good coach from the bad is all about how he conditions his players mentally and physically... practice practice practice , that is not being a dictator , that is his job! That is the difference between the college level vs pro, nothing else imo.

Lastly, I saw Pop bench his starting 5 in a game when they played poorly, and that was during Duncan era, does that make him a dictator?

No it isn't. At lower levels, yes.

The difference between good coaches and bad coaches at the NBA level is mostly about how they relate to the players and how good they are at making in game adjustments.

Stop already.

Not sure what you expect from him. You overreact to every result. Over the course of 82 games, every team in the league is going to lose a couple they should have won, especially on the road. The Knicks have played well so far and Hornacek deserves credit, not blame.

You will continue to hear the same things every time you post about Hornacek, because this was a roster projected to win about 30 games.

i look at the game in a different way thats all, you may feel different had you had the game beatin into you!

i had THE most disciplined coach in the world... he brought in coaches from all over to teach us defenses, we wore weight vests during practice of the 1-3 1, 1 2 2 zone defenses, everything we did on the court was a set play, someone F'ed up, we did it again. and again, and again till we got it right! if someone passed the ball with one hand he was ripped from the game. i got 3 clip boards cracked over my head under this SOB! and you wonder why i am the way i am? we had no F N excuses ! we could not take a drink of anything till practice was over! and guess what, we WON a lot of games! and thats all that matters right? its about winning! last nites loss are the games you look back at and say WTF!!! those are the ones that hurt the most!

WE, share the love for this great game, but our philosophy, completely different thats all!

None of the winning coaches of the last 40 years in the NBA coach like that. Not a single one.

That is just it. While that may have worked for your team in that era, it doesn't work today. Not even at the high school level. Because, when you mistreat your talent, the talent goes to play somewhere else. Old school methods have been proven less effective via research than new school cooperative models. There is a reason that not a single coach in the NBA coaches that way.

Good Coaches need to set high expectations for their players and hold them accountable when they fall short. However, you still have to treat the players like people.
