what makes you think the Spurs would have accepted an Ingram deal over a DeRozan deal? I think the exact opposite has been laid out to be true. That they wanted a proven All Star 20+ point a game scorer instead of a prospect.
Ewwwwww....

I would have rather had Ingram.

But, Pops wanted proven players.

Derozan's contract is expensive, but i dont think its expensive as it looks. For example, if the Lakers strike out on say Kawhi and Cousins in free agency, and want to go after say Kemba Walker- they will prob be paying Kemba 33-36M a year.

At that point you might be pining for the days you can sign a DeRozan level player for 27M a year.
They wouldn't overpay for Kemba.

They could simply sign Bledsoe who is a LeBron client.

Or, just roll with the Kiddie Corps and get a legit 4 and 5.

LeBron, Ingram and Ball are playmakers.

Kemba would simply be a scorer ala Kyrie on the Cavs.

Hey I mostly agree-- but Pop wanted what Pop wanted.

I mean, isn't, to a certain extent, Ingram's best case scenario being DeRozan? The two actually are fairly similar comps in a lot of ways--- more mid-range players than they are 3pointers or high flying slashers.

lol....you see KCP? You think Klutch is gonna say- he we will deliver Bledsoe for a discount? If anything I would imagine it would be a premium.

But we shall see.

I think you are right though. I would rather say, sign Bledsoe and Thad Young together, than say just Kemba. And dont make fun of Thad Young. I think he is a really really good playera nd will be a borderline, not all star, but right underneath that this year.

Honestly- he is Draymond-lite in a lot of ways. A very good defender with 3 pt range and ability to rebound.

All depends on direction.

I would have preferred Ingram too. Not because he is better, but because I think the Spurs are somewhat silly not to going after young talent.

DeRozan will help them win 50 or more this year. That apparently is what Pop preferred.

the kiddie corps aint doing shit Mecca

itll be at least 3-4 years till Ingram and Ball are even beginning to enter their primes. How often do you see young teams win in the NBA?

The overwhelming sentiment on the Cavs was trade Wiggins since his prime did not line up to LeBron's- and it made sense.

4 years later that is only magnified.

Even if Ingram is eventually Durant Jr., he is not getting there anytime soon.

And Portland is in the same exact situation. They are going to have to make a similar decision to invoke change with their team - a change that will make a difference.

Touche on Klutch....lol

I'm not going to Shit on Thad.

He's been solid his whole career.

Kinda slim pickings at the 4 next Summer.

Love, Harris, Marvin Williams...

Unless Milsap, Barnes opt out.

You know who I really like and hope he opts out?

Middleton.

Yeah, I agree.

But, after seeing the Clippers somewhat entertaining, yet didn't reach the post season, treading water approach...

I'm now a huge proponent of moves that have your team going all the way to the top, or all the way to the bottom.

The Spurs lineage is very different than the Clippers though.

So, Pop has earned the benefit of the doubt from me.

id rather have Middleton and Young than just Kemba.

Middleton and Young bring both defense, versatility and shooting. If they went that route- LeBron would not have a major all star around him, but would have a deep and versatile squad if Ingram and Ball develop into solid players- even if they werent near their primes yet.

PG- Ball
SG- Middleton
SF- Bron
PF- Kuzma
C- Thad?

ehh...

maybe not

they need a big man that can board and play some D, but is still quick enough to move on the outside.....maybe if Nerleans re-establishes himself they can give him the MLE to play the 5- that would be perfect and cost-efficient.

Dude, I want Middleton for ME!!!

As for the Lakers center spot....Dedmon?

Maybe the squidworth looking bench center, Epke, in Utah?

He's hella rim protection.

Or....

Vuvecic?

They will have choices.

Plus, let's be real...

Despite recent evidence to the contrary, guys want to play with Lebron.

If you can't beat em, join em.

* see Durant and Boogie.

They are quoting all of it as gospel.

So, how do we arbitrarily decide what part is fact and what part is fiction if the standard is " did we hear Kawhi say it "?

Deaf, mutes don't usually speak.

Sign language? :noidea:

It's funny. It's almost the exact opposite of PG last season. He kept talking about wanting to play in LA, while also talking about how difficult OKC was making it for him to decide, to the point that folks were saying..."Dude, just shut up already".

Now, with Kawhi, there's all of this talk about him wanting to come to LA, while there's also talk of him warming to the idea of playing in Toronto, to the point that people are saying..."Dude, say something, anything." lol

Assuming the trade could have been done, it would likely have been before Toronto even became a possibility. It wasn't until, the Celtics, Sixers and Lakers all more or less moved on that the Toronto deal became a real opportunity.

what it comes down to-

we really have no clue.

None of us truly had any clue where even LeBron was going up until very shortly before he announced. We had no clue where George was going. No clue CP3 could/would get to the Rockets. and on and on and on.

We have no clue what will happen. Maybe Jimmy Butler ruptures his ACL and Kawhi and Kyrie want to team up in Brooklyn. Maybe he LOVES Toronto and wants to stay there. Maybe he has already had secret conversations with the Lakers and is a shoe-in to go there. Maybe the Raptors will reecoup some assets and trade him to the CLippers for Harris and SGA at the deadline. Maybe the Wiz will make a move and trade a first rounder and Otto Porter Jr. for Kawhi. Maybe the Bricks will offer Knox and an expiring to get him and he will want ot stay and be the King of NY with Kristaps.

We have no clue.
Many many people had LeBron going to LA for a long time actually

No doubt... no argument from me on this point.

They got a few problems on offense... but hard-headed Russ is probably the headline.

Westbrook puts the "I" in team.

:agree:
There's no I in "team". But there is ME

He has avenues to make a statement even as a nonverbal, deaf mute.

But, yes....I wanted George to shut up several times last year.

Careful what you wish for...lol

Fyi - I totally expect Kawhi to land with the Lakers.

But, it's the off-season, I'm bored and just feel like being contrarian...lol

Can Kawhi's mind be changed?

Sure.

Both Small town and underachieving teams have done it in the past with Chris Paul with the Clippers, Webber in Sacto, Deron Williams in Brooklyn, Melo with the Knicks....etc

Never say never.

Hart might be a nice rotation piece someday- but hes a 4 year college player with limited upside.

Hart's a nice rotation piece right now. But he's also about as good as he's likely to be.

He's not a typical 4 year college player in the sense that he could have come out earlier, but chose to stay.

But he also wasn't good enough to be a one and done.

He will likely improve some as he works on his game and learns the NBA. But unless there's some untapped potential in him that we haven't seen yet...he'll be a dependable sixth man or 5th starter on a good team.

He just hasn't ever had a healthy Season.

He is pretty perfect though.
