But Stanford was garbage pre-Harbaugh and arguably in a worse spot than Cal was. Cal has proven it can get pretty decent talent into the program, just last year they got a five star kid. While they have to compete with other Cal programs, there's a hell of a lot of talent in California. If they got a good coach, I think a turnaruond would be easy for them and quick.

Stanford was in rough shape because of recruiting, Cal is in rough shape because it's Cal. Wilcox will be at another job within 3 years. Cal has a bankrupt athletic department, a bankrupt school system who would prefer to cut athletics all together.
