Rumors are Bautista is considering taking a 1-year deal. But at his age he can't really consider this, can he? He's too old to try building his market again after potentially a solid year. He needs to take a multi-year deal this year...am I right?

He'd be banking on putting up contract year numbers if taking a one year deal, hoping to be rewarded with a two year deal starting 2018.

Exactly! He needs to just take a 2 or 3-year deal now. Even if the AAV is less than he'd get on a 1-year pact.

Still think he'll be back with Toronto. The team has to do something.

If I'm Bautista and I'm signing a 1 year deal I'm going to go somewhere hitter friendly where I can win. That's really where he's at now. I think he ends up back in Toronto

Texas would be an intriguing landing spot for him. I do agree with you that he will end up back in Toronto, though.

Looks good on him. I would love to actually know the offer he turned down last March.

That said, it's still 18.5 mill.... prick.

The Bautista contract is fine, but I wouldn't want to put him out there with a glove at this point. The Morales/Smoak signings were stupid.
