Why can't this guy recruit? Dude couldn't close a whore if he had 2 grand in his pocket. It's embarrassing. Mo Bama is going to commit to Texas soon, although Kentucky has an outside shot. He is striking out on grad transfers as well. Mark Alstork from Wright State is a guy they might be looking at. :rolleyes2: Good coach but this team needs some semblance of recruiting.

I think Beilein is fantastic. I've thought that way for a while, even back in his WVU days. He's gone to 7 NCAA's in his last 9 years, and has been to 3 S16's, 2 E8's, a FF and a NCG. That's pretty damn good. And I think he's recruited really really well at Michigan. His 2012 and 2013 classes were probably his best. His best attribute is getting the best out of his players. Just look at some of the guys he turned into NBA draft picks/players. Class of 2009 Darius Morris, three star was a 2nd round pick after his sophomore season. Hardaway Jr was a three star turned 1st rounder. Burke was barely a top 100 player, top 10 pick. Stauskus barely a top 100 player turned top 10 pick. LaVert a 3 star turned 1st rounder. You could argue the two most highly rated recruits he landed have under performed(McGary and GRIII) but they were stil 1st and 2nd rounders respectively. Even on the current team Wilson and Wagner weren't top 100 guys and both are looking like 1st rounders if/when they come out. As for his 2017 class. It certainly isn't anything spectacular, but my guess is he'll turn these guys into great college players like he has with most his recruits. Eli Brooks(3 star from PA) I've seen him play live he went to a rival high school, he's a stud, I think he's a little underrated as a prospect. If Wilson and Wagner stay, this will be another top 20 team for Michigan this upcoming season.

Michigan gets Jaaron Simmons. Needed a PG, so a good pickup.

I honestly think Michigan will be better next year than they were this past season assuming Wagner and Wilson stay.

I'm happy he missed on a few instate guys this year. Marquette should reap some benefits if the guy's pan out the way I'm hearing

That said, I think Belein is doing a crazy good job at Michigan. I really don't think basketball wise Michigan is a program that should consistently snag 5 stars. He's getting solid recruits and developing them. That's huge.

He's developing guys so well its actually deterred his longer term success. I can't think when he recruited Burke and Stauskus he thought they'd both leave after their sophomore years. Same with Hardaway. How often do 3 stars leave early to the NBA? Now he might be hurt again with Wilson and Wagner, neither were a top 100 kid out of high school.

Beilein has been a solid coach and recruiter wherever he's been whether it was Canisius, Richmond, WVU, or now at Michigan. He's won at every place he's been. He has a Princeton offense-type system that not every player wants to play. That's why he doesn't necessarily go after the OAD guys. Although I remember he got Mitch McGary from Duke in 2011 and he was a Top 25 player then and he stayed at UM for two. But guys have to fit what style a coach wants to run in a lot of these programs and Michigan is one of those.

McGary ended up plummeting in the rankings and Glenn Robinson III became a top 30 player instead.

They both already declared for the NBA Draft... Unfortunately.

Are you retarded?

All he does is bring in NBA talent, like it's his job.

Also, don't forget Kentucky transfer Charles Mathews is eligible next season.

A potential starting line up of:

PG: Simmons
SG: Adbul-Rahkman
SF: Charles Mathews
PF: DJ Wilson
C: Moe Wagner

That's a top 10/15 team IMO.

I don't see either being ready.

Although Wagner was less of a bitch down the stretch.

Michigan played great down the stretch, honestly should have been in the E8. Wagner and Wilson were a big part of that, although Walton will be missed.

I don't think Beilein needs to be a great recruiter, more so a decent coach. And that has what he has shown. The first half of the year this year, they looked like shit and were going to the NIT. His offense thrives off of the 3 point shot, so he's not willing to recruit the way other coaches do. Yes, the 5 star recruits that play 1 year of college, then run after a pay check are nice. However, I don't mind his yearly runs as being the under dog.

The problem was that nobody past their starting five could keep up with the likes of Louisville or Oregon. I think they were running out of gas.
