Referee Jeff Triplette reportedly retiring after shaky performance in NFL playoffs

To bad he didn't retire a day earlier, the officiating and his problem on the mic was beyond bad.

As soon as that game started and I saw Triplette was the guy running the show, all I could think of is, "how the hell does this idiot garner enough points to officiate a play-off game?" He is an absolute joke as a referee and has been for several years. The forward progress thing was one of the stupidest calls ever. Forward progress doesn't even apply to a sack in the fucking pocket. The QB isn't a runner at that point.

FTR, I am not blaming the refs for the loss. But I do want Triplette's metaphorical head on a platter and paraded. That was ... something I do not have the vocabulary to describe.

Here's my question: did the NFL know Triplette was retiring before this game? And did Triplette get a playoff game BECAUSE he was retiring? Triplette had not been assigned a playoff game since the 2013 season, according to Pro-Football-Reference.

It seems extremely coincidental that Triplette would get a playoff game for his final assignment after failing to grade well enough over the last three seasons to earn one. If you're a Chiefs fan, you should be upset at the way Andy Reid handled playcalling down the stretch, but you should also be asking a lot of questions about the NFL's decision to give Triplette a playoff game.

The thing is the league has already said they tell their officials to "let the play finish and they can go back with replay and change it if necessary". He didn't even let the play finish. Just sad that a play-off game is tainted with this crap when the league should have nothing but the best out there. Pretty obvious the league really doesn't give a shit about us fans out here.

Sad thing is this weakens the entire NFL officiating.. Think about it... He was one of the higher rated officials, which is why he was selected to officiate this game... Now you have to have someone, who rated lower, replace him...
