I get that if there was a guy and a time to gamble, Jaylon Smith was that guy and that was the time to do it. My only problem is Smith was the latest gamble in a long line of gambles, which have for the most part not paid off.

I'm okay with going to the casino and having some fun every once in a while. If I lose, no big deal, I'm not depending on my gamble to pay off, but I had fun and I had the opportunity to score big. It's the degenerate gamblers who go every weekend, who lose all the time, that end up losing their house. Playing the lottery/gambling all the time isn't a sound strategy for building wealth, nor for building a football team.
I understand your point. I hated the Gregory selection as much as I loved the Smith pick, but I'm all about character...which can't be taught now

I saw an interest story about the former eagle that played with the brace. So it's very possible smith contributes. Reed got feeling back but it took 3 years.

I don't see a brace in that picture, or at least not the outline of one...

Doesnt appear there is one, and then he is either doing some sort of bands there, or he is attached to something else, which would be pretty good signs to me

Seems like a good sign to me. I don't notice any brace, and on top of that it doesn't even look like the foot/ankle are heavily taped. Some of the tape jobs I saw him sporting on that ankle/foot last year were pretty bulky - this looks like a normal tape job.

If anyone can recover from that injury it's this guy. TO recovering in 2 months from a broken leg, AP coming back full force after an ACL tear, these physical freaks bodies don't respond the same way as other people.

Not sure what he means by "ready". Still waiting to hear that a doctor said the nerve has regenerated or hear terms like full participant or 100%, but this sounds like good news

Jaylon Smith - LB - Cowboys
Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said LB Jaylon Smith (knee) should be ready for OTAs.

"He’s doing great," said Jones. "Making great improvements. We’re more fired up than ever we picked him last year." Smith resumed running in February, but was still dealing with some nerve damage. It sounds like the Cowboys expect to have him for most of their offseason program. Smith is trending in the right direction, but his 2017 role remains up in the air.

I am hoping for the best and want him to succeed in his recovery but you still have to plan like he is not on the team.
When he can contribute that's extra gravy on your Chicken Fried Steak and Potatoes :yes:

Breaking news: smith can now move toes and lift foot. This could be very bad news for NFL offenses

Honestly transforms our defense if this guy is ready to go. The man was covering slot receivers at times in college, he's an absolute freakshow. Him and Lee will devour the middle of the field.

The kid is a great player I'm really hoping his knee comes back to full strength. If it does last years draft could be the best draft the Cowboys have had in a very long time.
