He may be slower but I would have to think all pro's are twice as slow as your every day Joe. No?

I don't know why you would think that. They play 18 holes on Championship courses in less time (3.5-4 hours or so) than the average low handicapper does and waaaay faster than a 15-20 handicap weekend duffer.

Dunked it on 16, made triple.

He should bounce back.

6 strokes back after round 1 and windy conditions on tap for the next two days. He's got his work cut out for him.

Yep...if he had a Fowler type round where every other shot was offline...we could probably stick a fork in him.

High is normally good at Augusta...I don't think it will be if the winds stay at this level...but one big reason I think he can claw back...he can reach all the par 5s...probably will have iron in hand on 13 and maybe 15...a lot depends on the set up...if they (AN) want a real grind they could tuck the pins early, combined with the predicted winds as you mentioned, everybody is going to make bogeys...but I don't think they will.

On Spieth...not really striking it that well thru the bag...66 was a great score for his effort...the course will eventually make him pay if he can't tighten up his irons.

Had to be fun...hope Watson makes the cut this week...his last he said.

Yah that usually is the case. I wish they would have kept him!

Spieth had only 25(?) putts yesterday though. If he keeps that up and avoids the bogeys.................

Yes, but that's a lot to ask.

FW Hit...57% and GIR 67%...FW% is slightly less than the field avg, GIR is slightly above the field avg...will be tough to win with this ball striking...if he's scrambling 6-8 times a round...he's going to make some bogeys...he got up and down twice that were 2 in 10 type shots.

Rose for example hit 71% of the FW and 83% GIR...that effort will track Spieth down if that gap stays the same.

Breeze is already picking up since I got in the office so the windy condition forecast will probably hold true and be a factor again later today.

Its excrutiating watching Jason Day; he is ridiculously slow. There's got to be some sort of penalty for the way he played #11. But its been every shot it seems.

Yep & Tiger is one of Day's best friends - they apparently talk all of the time. I really pull for Day - especially since he revealed that his dad used to beat him a lot & that was when he was a very little kid.

I'm curious to see if anyone can hang on to the #1 spot all year...maybe golf is more interesting with a Goliath, but imo fun seeing several guys hang that shingle.

This course should've favored Spieth's tactician type game a little more...another MC.
