don't get me wrong as a fan and we are in the playoffs and he is healthy I want him in the game. Only Negative Tillery would sit.I think he would be able to play next season if if he played in the playoffs because he red shirted his freshman year.

I don't know if its worth wasting a year of eligibility for 1 game. I would keep him out. We need him for next year after Day leaves.
Probably not as much as you would think simply because I would think they would move Jones in slowly rather than throw him straight into the fire.
He was going to apply for a medical redshirt. He's done after next year if he plays this year or not. He redshirted freshman year so he only had four years left. He played his sophomore and junior years, didn't play this year (yet), and has one more left. So there is no downside to him playing in a bowl game other than the possibility of reinjuring himself.

Unless his freshman redshirt was also for medical reasons (which I don't believe it was) he still won't be able to get a 6th year. Six years are very rare. As far as I know the only one with a chance to get one is Jarret Grace, and that's because he missed his freshman season because of an injured leg, and sat out all of last year with the two broken bones in his leg. I can't remember who it was, but I remember ND tried to get a sixth year for a player a few years ago and the NCAA shot it down. Maybe they can convince the NCAA that he missed his freshman year due to injury, but I think he has one year left whether he plays in a bowl game or not.
