FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots running back James White’s three-year contract extension with the club has a cash value of $12.69 million. It is a good example of how a player and team can compromise when striking a deal one year early.

Under his original contract, White would have earned a base salary of $690,000 in 2017 and had a cap charge of $789,272. The Patriots would have been happy to have White on the team at those numbers; it’s a great bargain and then they could have negotiated with him as he hit unrestricted free agency next offseason.

But with the team keeping the future in mind, and White seeing the value of some immediate financial security versus possibly earning a bit more on the open market next offseason, they worked together to strike the following contract agreement:

Signing bonus: $4 million

2017

Base salary: $690,000 (fully guaranteed)

Salary cap charge: $1.789 million

2018

Base salary: $1 million (guaranteed for injury)

Roster bonus: $500,000 ($31,250 per game)

Salary cap charge: $2.5 million

2019

Base salary: $2.5 million

Roster bonus: $500,000 ($31,250 per game)

Salary cap charge: $4 million

2020

Base salary: $3 million

Roster bonus: $500,000 ($31,250 per game)

Salary cap charge: $4.5 million

White has a good chance to earn the full value of the contract, as he is now tied to the Patriots through his prime years. It’s a good match between a player with a unique skill set and a team’s offensive style; White is a running back with expertise in the passing game, and the Patriots are a prolific offense in that area.

Here's the deal with White: There are many players with better skills including Lewis, but White is a gamer. G-A-M-E-R!

Is it true that since Hernandez is now dead via suicide the Patriots have to pay him his money since now he is "technically" an innocent man

Hope not but the Kraft's lawyers are working on it for sure.

I think there would be a suicide clause in his contract.

Probably gonna be a long time and a lot of court dates before that mess is cleared up, but I suspect in the end the Pats will end up having to pay something to AH's family because of MA being an abatement ab initio state. A perfect solution would be for the Pats to place the bonus payment they avoided by cutting AH into a trust for his daughter but I suspect Shayanna won't go away without a deal that pays her something, too.

Not really sure how Aaron Hernandez ended up in a James White thread......this is a SportsHoopla phenom

None the less....

First............suicide has no benefit for the person committing it.
Second........Shayanna has zero legal ground to stand on. She's the mother of AH's child but not any relation.
Third...........Commonwealth of MA has already given AH's daughter $9000 a month until age 18. If she goes to college the estate will pay, if not, she gets $2000 a month to age 25.
Fourth.........Because AH committed suicide, his legal team got screwed out of payment because his estate is in escrow. No one knows for sure how much is in there but debtors are coming out of the woodwork for a piece. The MA courts will decide who gets what.
Fifth............What happens to any leftover money? This is where Shayanna and Odin Lloyds family are trying to get their pinkies.

Explain the third one please. Why does she get so much and from whom? I read that she would get that much but there was no explanation as to why and where from.

It's from his NFL pension

Thank you. Plus the Commonwealth has his money on hold in escrow. They froze his bank account the day he was arrested and no one has access to it since. Like I said before, no one know how much was in the account and the AG's office is the only one with the info. It's believed that there may be as much as $10M in it. But that's pure speculation. It'll take years and years to get through all of the BS.

Fiancee, lawyer: Hernandez estate worthless

Hernandez's fiancée and her lawyer said in an affidavit filed Wednesday in probate court that Hernandez's estate is currently worth "$0.00" with "no monies available and no identifiable personal assets." The Boston Herald first reported on the affidavit.

Lawyer BS :noidea:

I just picked up the Boston Herald and the headline is that Hernandez' estate is worthless and his girlfriend tried to list his house for sale. Needless to say, it didn't happen and she screaming like hell. AG is considering arresting her for attempted grand larceny theft and illegally signing sales documents.

Sweetheart, if you had made him slide the ring on your finger you might be able to sell the house, but then again, you'd be responsible for paying his debts.
