USC-Upstate @ Florida Gulf-Coast (7:00)
Kennesaw State @ Jacksonville (7:00)
North Florida @ N.J.I.T (7:30)
Stetson @ Lipscomb (8:00)

Conference tourney's already. Woot woot.

No idea about any of these teams. Florida Gulf-Coast is the only name I recognized so I go with them.

Villanova keeps losing, but is still clinging on to that last #1 seed. When are you guys gonna overtake us?

Duke keeps trying not to do just that! I think Duke gets a #2 seed, we just don't want to be in Nova's bracket!

2/26 recap

When I first came to this site today, I noticed QUITE a few tournament threads on the CBB forums. Maybe somebody doesn't want me to list off schedules anymore...

On a lighter note, let's see if anything happened yesterday:

Virginia Tech upsets Duke 64-63 (And with that, Virginia Tech is now IN the NCAA's.)
Kansas over Texas 80-70 (Texas is in trouble of falling OUT of the NCAA bubble... but we all knew that.)
West Virginia over Texas Tech 84-74 (Tech's now lost 4 in a row. Could a NCAA 1st-round loss be in the works?)
Marquette over Georgetown 90-86 in OT (Man! Marquette will NOT go away, will they?)

Atlantic Sun Quarterfinals:
Florida Gulf-Coast over USC-Upstate 96-76
Jacksonville over Kennesaw State 87-68
North Florida over N.J.I.T 80-76; will meet Florida Gulf-Coast in semis
Lipscomb over Stetson 89-73; will meet Jacksonville in semis

Tuesday, February 27th

So Michael Porter Jr. is cleared to play for Missouri again. NBA executives are saying he should play tonight, but honestly I'm not holding my breath.
Will other NCAA teams go through this type of drama today? Let's see: (All times are Eastern)

Tournament games:
Patriot League 1st Round:
Army @ Loyola-MD (7:00)
American @ Lafayette (7:00)

Big South 1st Round:
Longwood @ High Point (7:00)
Presbyterian @ Charleston Southern (7:00)

Other big games:
Florida @ Alabama (7:00)
(HUGE game for both teams. If Florida wins, I think they're in. And if they do, Alabama may be OUT.)
Tennessee @ Mississippi State (7:00)
Miami @ North Carolina (9:00)
Game of the Day: Auburn @ Arkansas (9:00)
Oklahoma @ Baylor (9:00)
(Another big "bubble" game. If Baylor doesn't win this one, they'll be in trouble.)
Kansas State @ TCU (9:00) (Actually, TCU will be in trouble if they don't win this game, too.)
Davidson @ St. Bonaventure (9:00)
Boise State @ San Diego State (11:00)

Ive been posting the individual tournaments for the last couple years. It's good to have it in it's own place for discussion.

Oklahoma is now 1-7 in their last 8 games and 3-10 in their last 13. Including losses to bottom of the league teams Iowa State and Texas.

Apparently that's good enough to earn you a 10 seed in the tournament.

2/27 recap

So yesterday we had Miami stun North Carolina on a buzzer-beater, Auburn suddenly looking normal after Arkansas smoked them, Oklahoma losing to Baylor yet STILL be in the NCAA's (according to ESPN), and of course...

I thought it was an error on ESPN's website at first. Not sure how you lose by 30 points to a mediocre team on senior night.

...that happening to Rhode Island.
So what else happened yesterday? Let's see:

Tournament games:
Big South 1st Round:
Longwood over High Point 68-55
Charleston Southern over Presbyterian 68-51

Patriot League 1st Round:
Loyola (MD) over Army 82-79
Lafayette over American 93-86

Other big games:

Tennessee over Mississippi State 76-54
Florida over Alabama 73-52 (With this result, it looks like 'Bama is out.)
Missouri over Vanderbilt 74-66
TCU over Kansas State 66-59
St. Bonaventure over Davidson 117-113 in 3-OT's (And in the nightcap, the Bonnies enhanced their NCAA resume with a thrilling win...)
San Diego State over Boise State 72-64 (...while Boise State might have just played their way OUT.)

Central Connecticut State @ Wagner (7:00)

Ohio Valley 1st Round [From Evansville, IN]:
SIU-Edwardsville vs. Tennessee Tech (7:30)
Eastern Illinois vs. Tennessee State (30 minutes after above game)

Game of the Day: Villanova @ Seton Hall (8:30)

Big upset of the Tar Heels last night. Got to wonder how this affects their chances at a 1-3 seed in the tourney.

2/28 recap

Did anything happen in the Top 25 yesterday? Well, Xavier now has a share of it's first-ever Big East regular-season title, and Villanova nearly blew it against Seton Hall, but nothing else really happened.

So, how about stuff OUTSIDE of the rankings? Let's see...

Big 10 1st Round:
Iowa over Illinois 96-87; will meet Michigan in next round
Rutgers over Minnesota 65-54; will meet Indiana in next round

Northeast Conference Quarterfinals:
Wagner over Central Connecticut State 73-61
Robert Morris over Mt. Saint Mary's 60-56
Fairleigh Dickinson over St. Francis (PA) 84-75; will meet Robert Morris in semis
LIU-Brooklyn over St. Francis (BKN) 73-50; will meet Wagner in semis

Ohio Valley 1st Round:
Tennessee Tech over SIU-Edwardsville 60-51
Eastern Illinois upsets Tennessee State 73-71
Other big games:
South Carolina over LSU 83-74 in OT
(And there goes ANY shot of LSU getting an at-large NCAA berth.)
UConn over Temple 72-66 (Ditto for the Temple Owls; right now they're OUT.)
Texas A&M over Georgia 61-60
Boston College over Syracuse 85-70 ( Damn! ...Well, we're screwed.)
St. John's over Butler 75-68 in 2-OT's

Prepare yourselves, folks! Starting today, things are gonna get REALLY crazy 'round here. Not just because the Big 10 tournament is warming up, or that teams like Louisville and Middle Tennessee will be playing for a NCAA bid tonight.

No, it's because we just might be seeing Gonzaga's swan song as a member of the West Coast Conference. And god help the WCC if Gonzaga DOES join the Mountain West (as first reported by ESPN). So let's see what happens! (All times are Eastern)

Other big games:
Wichita State @ UCF (7:00)

(If Middle Tennessee wins, they'll grab the C-USA regular season title... and maybe lock up an at-large NCAA bid.)

Oregon @ Washington State (9:00) (For Oregon's sake, they BETTER not lose this one.)
Stanford @ Arizona (10:00)
Oregon State @ Washington (11:00) (Washington's in the same boat as Oregon right here.)

Friday, March 2nd

To all my peeps over in Central New York: I WANTED to say "Don't worry about all this snow from this snowstorm; it'll warm right back up and it'll all go away as quickly as it came!" But on "Weather Underground", I found out that might not be the case, so stay safe out there.

With all the local news done, let's move on: (All times are Eastern)

(P.S: Did any of you catch that great Michigan State vs. Indiana woman's game last night?)

Jacob Evans, our NBA player, goes down with an injury. Typical Cincinnati sports moment. I hope it's not too serious.

Luckily Keith Williams and Cane Broome and REALLY good, so I'm not really fazed.
