Puig is super impressive. Should he be compared to Trout yet?

Might have better stuff but much more raw hard to tell how he'll turn out.

Puig has played for two months. Wait 'til the year is over, then make comparisons. Anyone can have a short hot streak. Trout is just as good this year as he was last year.

Shouldn't the question be, is Puig as good as Trout?

Obvious Orioles homer lol

Machado is a nice player but his offensive production is nowhere near the level of Trout's

You should have worded the thread "Is Puig as good as Trout?"

They're both very good......but since I've watched Zero Dodger games this season I really can't say which player is better. I think Trout is easier to manage for what that's worth.

Puig has close to a full season's worth of games in the majors (145)...those 145 games aren't as good as either of Trout's 2 full seasons.

and Puig's first season isn't even remotely close to Trout's 2012 or 2013 seasons. That's not meant to insult Puig either, he's been pretty great so far. Trout's just on an entirely different level.

I think he's better than Trout. But Puig isn't white, so he can't be pumped up as the next great white hope.

Ahh, the trusty old race card has been played. Puig is better but since Trout is white and is considered the best by many, it's just got to be racism. How did that slip my mind?

Edit: Unless you're were just kidding. Which I hope you were.

Plus those pesky statistics that prove Trout was a much better all around player in his first 6 months of play and stuff. Batting stats alone are pretty comparable, though.

Plus Puig hits in a waaaaaaaaaaay better lineup.

Bringing that up does little to prove your argument about Puig being better than Trout. It just means that Puig gets more pitches over the plate to drive than he would if he weren't surrounded by a high octane lineup. If Trout had that kind of firepower surrounding him, his numbers would be higher.

Why would baseball need the next "great white hope"?

Baseball is loaded with top notch white talent
