Today it was reported that the Chargers were willing to trade their pick (22nd) and P. Rivers in exchange for a top five pick presumably in order to get MM. If there is nothing added to this deal and Washington is on the clock, is this really a good deal for us? If so, how do you answer the question once the deal is made.......now what? As it relates to RGIII, KC, and Colt? If it's a bad deal, please elaborate.

Horrid deal.. .Rivers is 33 so he is no ones future. So we get at best a stop gap QB, and end up picking just late enough to get the pretty good week three starting O-lineman over one of the two sure fire day one starters.

Pass. Unless they are throwing in next years first as well as this years second rounder. Then we can talk.

I agree, pass on this deal. Rivers is 33 and in the last year of his contract. He will want to sign a 4-5 year extension for 80M. Are we prepared to do that? He may have 2-4 years of productivity left, he may not. But to lock up that kind of cap space is huge.

If somehow we did make a deal, RG3 would have to be gone. No way he rides the pine peacefully. Trade him for a 3rd round pick. There will be takers out there. Keep Cousins and try and convince him to sign an extension as the heir apparent to Rivers when he finally breaks down.

That be a horrible trade for Wash. Maybe if they threw in this years second but even then wouldn't help The Skins?

The team isn't one or two players away from being good, Rivers wouldn't be effective here. This win now mentality is why our beloved team has been perennial bottom dwelers.

Pass. The deal can't include Rivers and his more than $15M base salary. We'll swap our #5 for their #17, second rounder, and their first next year.

If we're going to make a deal, I'd like to see us trade our #5 overall for the Brown's #12 and #19 overall. That way, we can probably draft Landon Collins at #12, assuming that Scherff is already gone. If he's not gone, we take Scherff there. With the #19 overall we take an OT or, if Collins is still undrafted, take him. With our second rounder, we take an OG.

rivers makes sense for a team that is only a good qb away from a super bowl. skins are far from that and so is the other 1-4 worst teams.

Terrible deal due to past precedence. Rivers isnt a first round talent RIGHT NOW, and anyone drafting in the top five is most likely more than one player away anyway...

I don't know about you, but I thought the cowboy fan's comment was pretty good...

Terrible deal though.
