Is everyone sleeping on the Spurs?

True to standard off season form, no one is talking about the Spurs.

Yes, they are still boring.

They had a pretty boring draft and free agency. They didn't trade Aldridge and move up in the draft. They drafted late and took an old senior combo guard, Derrick White, that only people that watched the pre-draft combine even knew existed. They signed Rudy Gay at a discount to break him free from obscurity in Sacramento.

All standard Spurs off season stuff; making non-splashy moves that get forgotten among bigger NBA news. But they are almost always the right moves that keep San Antonio plugging along.

And by plugging along, I mean in title contention. They were only 5 games back of Golden State last year and had a winning regular season against them. And, oh yeah, the Spurs were blowing the Warriors out in game one of the WCS before Kawhi's ankle met its demise and pretty much ended the series.

With the history they have, the success of last season, and the off season to heal and make the usual small, quiet tweaks that the Spurs have made I am surprised that they never come up in the conversation and everyone is ready to hand the West to the Warriors for another season.

In the last 3 years with Kawahi healthy:
Spurs are 5-5 in their last 10 games versus GSW.
Spurs have two double digit wins versus GSW in Oakland.

After the injury Durant magically became the best player on the court.
They only had one small forward on the entire roster. He got Zsa-Zsaed.

I think they have more than just a small chance.
And that is without the addition of Rudy Gay who is the small forward depth they have coveted for years.

A lot depends on our point guard situation. It is so up in the air right now. Patty mills shit the bed against golden state once Parker went down. Parker was playing really well before the injury and would've been a big help against golden state, but the big question is can Parker come back and get to where he was before? Do we have guys behind him that are good enough to carry the load until he gets back? Do we have the depth at PG in general?

Our front court attack was giving the warriors fits with Kawhi shutting down Durant ( for only 2 quarters). Durant started scoring when Leonard went down and the rest is history. I still think GSW probably would've won the series in the end, but it would've taken them 6 or 7 games to do it. Especially because we were not losing game 1 if Kawhi didn't go down.

All of those games were regular season and many had players sitting. I put 0 stock in that record.

SA's 2 wins last year were the first game of the season and the game where GS and SA both rested everybody.
