If you haven't finished it yet, the pacing gets REAL bad as the season goes.

I have watched a few early YouTube reviews, and that appears to be the main complaint about this show.

The shows have established a bad trend so far...

    1) DD1
    2) JJ
    3) LC
    4) DD2
    5) IF

Outside of Cage being slightly better than DD2 (as a whole; the first half of DD2 was probably the best representation of this sub-verse yet), each submission has been worse than the last. The next two will be Defenders then Puny, and both of those look to be winners, so there is that...

    Quick question...

Why did we not see Stark Tower in any of the cityscape shots they showed? It was visible in all the previous seasons...

I don't think think its a bad trend at all.

Until each shows second season is considered worse then it's first

My point is that each has been worse than the one prior. That is a bad trend.

But they are all different shows.

And IF is lesser known as is, same with Luke Cage.

DD and JJ both got rave reviews out of the gate. It's not a bad trend because a couple completely different shows were viewed as weaker.

The trend would be if JJ2 and DD3 and LC2 etc.. all follow in DD2 footsteps and get worse

Different shows with different show runners isn't a trend. They started with the more established project first and it killed it.

I finished it this past weekend.

I'm a bit torn, because I do see great potential for season 2. A part of me enjoys the fact that they are taking their time and really building up the characters and another part of me wishes they would get on with it already. I thought the fight scenes could have been a little better done but from what I can tell, the stunt men/women weren't all that involved (I could be wrong on that, just what I felt when watching).

    My order goes like this:

    1)DD1
    2)JJ
    3)DD2
    4)IF
    5)LC

I just didn't like the way LC beat viewers over the head with afrocentricity. We get it, he's black. I felt it was a bit over the top. Still an enjoyable series though.

I was not bothered at all by the racial element in Cage. I thought it was completely appropriate. While the genre doesn't do much for me, I enjoyed the period piece-ness that it was.

And for the record, I did enjoy IF. It was just too long for the story they were telling. Shave 4 or 5 episodes off, and it would have competed with DD1.

Two episodes in. Kind of meh so far.

I mean, he's the iron fist, which has to represent power, but I thought the show was best when he was making effortless moves to defend and attack. Seems odd that kung fu represents animal styles and a kind of poetic grace, yet his signature move is about raw power.

And then I was hit with all kinds of nonsense questions about how I would have reacted if I was away from civilization for 15 years....

If he can somehow obtain a Canadian passport to get into the US, wouldn't every terrorist be doing this???
Did he use dial up internet before he left?
They must have spoken English at the monastery for him to learn, but where did they learn it?
How did he charge his iPod at the monastery?
What was he using to shape his facial hair?
Does one get sick when traveling between dimensions?

The problem is is that the show never explored his life at the monestary... so any guesses are a waste...

Even though I enjoyed the show, I must say it was a HUGE disappointment... and they definitely played it WAY to safe... I know @calsnowskier has mentioned many times that he HATES mysticism, I feel like the show was afraid to go that path... Basically the only mysticism in the show was showing his punch AND talking about the monestary...

Count me as someone who didn't notice a change in pace at all from the other series. They're ALL pretty consistent, imo. They're stories about character, not action stories. Most of the shows are interactions between characters, and angsty reflection about choices made/price paid for justice/end results.

Perhaps people are just familiar with the blueprint now, so they know what's coming?

I agree that there's limitations with THIS character - he's not overly powered, so no big boss villain is going to work - and yeah, mysticism and/or magic never holds up to any kind of scrutiny, because there's nothing behind the curtain. It boils down to the getoutofjailfreecard 'god-did-it' or 'it'sMAGIC!'

Dr. Strange suffered from the same issues, however there they kept up the pace and the 'hey look over here, squirrel!' distraction with all the 3D graphics.

Then he would be speaking English as if he were a young kid, no?

Not really, no. My kid had a pretty advanced vocabulary by that age. What was he, ten?

Not like he was a toddler.

They hinted at the dragon and to the mysticism, though. I am not a fan of mysticism, but if it is so intimately tied to a character, do you lose the character by omitting it? How could a Dr Strange story be told without it? In the case of IF, I think they did OK with this aspect by only hinting at it. It seems that DD is he show that they are going into heavy mysticism, and I would assume there will be more crossovers with DD and IF in the future.

I still enjoyed LC, just not as much as the others. I give the 1st half of DD2 a ton of credit, that's why I still have it ahead of IF.
