Recruiting. How can you win big in a league when your recruiting falls in the middle of the pack year after year?

Dana has shown he can develop talent. He has taken 3 star recruits and developed them into NFL draft picks.

How sweet WVU had it when they were at the top of the pack in terms of bringing in talent.

Win and the recruits will come, plain and simple. Fraud coached here, won, and brought in good recruits, Nehlen did as well. We were told when we joined the B12 by some of the same people making excuses for Holgorsen today, that geography didnt matter, that kids come to a school because they have a good stadium, flashy uniforms, young offensive genius's for coaches, sell beer, have betterlocker rooms, practice fields, etc. Now that those excuses dont hold water, geography does matter....... Holgorsen pissed away recruiting his first two classes going after Texas kids rather than in WVUs traditional recruiting ground of Eastern Ohio and Western PA, areas he is now trying to catch up in. Holgorsen is not a very good coach, that is the reason he cant get over the hump. Some on here pouring piss on EVERYTHING WVU that isnt Luck and Holgorsen is getting old, Lyon's offered your boy an extension, and Holgorsen turned it down, so quit saying Lyons needs to extend him for stability. It is time for Holgorsen to win or pack, ten wins or hit the road.

Now we have national sports writers making excuses for Dana! When will the madness stop?

Until this past year, WVU's recruiting was as good as any in recent history. With the exception of the '07 class of Rich's... Dana and his staff have brought in classes ranked as high or better than his predecessors.

Of course, Rich had the advantage of recruiting Prop cases. And, Billy couldn't recruit a kid who wanted to qualify or play for WVU... so, it's refreshing to see an outside source speak the truth. With our stupid ass AD putting Dana in a questionable status, I have a feeling we'll be seeing a ton of articles from the national media supporting Dana this Fall.

Again... how sweet would it be to compete in a weak conference like the BE again?

Then Don Nehlen should have been fired too then. Don didn't win 10 games until his NINTH season. Dana is a terrible coach, despite winning 56% of his games. The great Don Nehlen won at a 60% clip. So Don would have won a whopping additional two games.

Fraud didn't play anyone. Look at how the former Big East teams are doing in the ACC. They're all bottom feeders.

Just reading stupidity in the most recent posts. You know it shows up there right? Be a little more clever with your "wit"

Yeah... Dana pissed away two of his best recruiting classes those first two years. Scout.com ranked them #27 and #28 respectively.

To add to your list, Dana pissed away on the following players too...

Adam Pankey
Christian Brown
Mark Glowinski - in the NFL
Mario Alford - in the NFL
Kevin White - in the NFL
Daryl Worley - in the NFL
Wendell Smallwood - in the NFL
Nick O'Toole - Big 12 all conference.

DC & bb, you are both wrong. Dana should have won the Big 12 and been in contention for the National Championship the last 3 seasons. He is a horrible first time head coach. Because of Dana, we are a middle of the road team in a weak Big 12. Our needs would have been served better in the AAC where we would not have been afforded the opportunity to make big boy money. Due to Luck, we move to a conference that is light years away from our homes, we are getting big boy money, and our campus continues to grow. Why would anybody want that? Morgantown should have held out for a pro baseball team, not a farm system team.

I hope Dana wins 9 games and Shane is forced to make his second decision since he came here. Hopefully he releases Dana and Dana remains in the Big 12 and turns into the next Bobby Bowden. I'm not sure what constitutes a terrible coach, but it must be Dana. After all, he has eliminated most of the complaints that the folks on this board had. F'it, I'm on the Doc train. He is old, so if he sucks he'll be ready to retire in a few years.

Don Nehlen inherited a 2-9 team, had them 9-3 in three years, Holgorsen inherited a 9-4 team and was 3-8 in two years.........Strange you say Fraud didnt play anyone, yet you stand up for Holgorsen losing to KANSAS.....wow. Ten wins doesnt mean quite as much playing 13 games as it did playing 11, does it?

Don Nehlen answered questions after giving a lecture last year. In his response to one question, he mentioned fans like DAD. He said they have no idea how good a job Dana is doing... how hard it is to go up against a difficult SOS. He knows... he lived it!

He also called out fans like DAD who keep referring to how much Rich or Billy won. He stated them two had the best job in America. Who wouldn't want to be a HC of a major football team in which you were guaranteed 9 wins every year.

I think Don would tell a fan like DAD to shut the fuck up...

It's also worth noting... Don won with Frank's recruits. Once he got his own, it took him a few years to produce a big winner. He won but 4 games in '86.

Don had pretty good skill with his starters... thanks to Frank... but he had little depth. In his book, Don mentions how the lack of depth impacted the '84 team. After beating Penn State for the first time in 29 years, he had to replace a number of starters.

The team ended the regular season losing 3 straight... to the likes of UofV, Rutgers, and Temple...
