College Football Analytics - Game by Game Predictions

I wouldn't bet on their prediction for Michigan, but it would be a dream come true. This prediction probably still wouldn't put Michigan in the playoffs (they have Alabama, Penn State, and Miami, and Washington going undefeated..so at least one of them would have to lose their CCG)...but the cherry on top would be a 2 TD victory against Ohio State.

Does it say how often it's right? Above 70% is good, 75% great, and 80% would make me jealous.

I do like that it has the balls to give actual scores rather than than pussy % chance to win stuff.

It most likely works off last years data at this point in the year I'd bet. So you would be looking at last years Michigan team on this years schedule.

That's a guess though, I don't know exactly how it works.

Yeah, I read in the other post that they had 7 teams going undefeated...so they must be working with some old stats. It's still nice to dream, but we all know there likely won't be more than 1-2 undefeated team by the end of November...if there are any at all. I can't imagine Michigan sniffs 11 wins. I'd be ecstatic with 10 wins this season.

7 teams is not crazy for predictions this time of year on this, so long as it doesn't predict 2 teams who play each other as such. Basically 1 per conference, sometimes 2 given divisions.

But yeah, it's not going to happen.

I'm sure this will update every week with new predictions.

Yeah, it's hard to take any kind of analysis/predictions seriously when they have 7 teams going undefeated. I'm sure this site will become MUCH more useful sometime in October. I definitely want to bookmark it to see how close their predictions are in mid October and November once they have more stats.

Nope, that will happen on September 2nd! :suds:

It does predict Michigan beating Sparty by 3 TD's. I do hope that becomes reality!

I believe there is probably 7 teams that "should" go undefeated. Games aren't played on paper and injuries can't be predicted.

It has Michigan State going 4-8 with a loss to Western Michigan. I'm willing to put money that we will not lose to Western Michigan this year with all their losses. I'm pretty confident that we will finish at least 6-6.

I believe I 've just researched where their flaw is.

They are giving OOC games equally credit as Conf games.

I did my research on the SEC East.

Now because these numbers are of the complete season, they should
be pretty close to the actual ending standings of the SEC East. They
really aren't that close and the OOC games appear to be the reason.

Here are my numbers.

Last Year's final SEC Standings...

Fla 6-2
UGA 4-4
UT 4-4
UK 4-4
Vandy 3-5
So Car 3-5
Mizzo 2-6

Using their numbers...here's what they would have had

Mizzo 7-1
UT 6-2
UK 5-3
UGA 4-4
UF 2-6
Vandy 1-7
So Car 0-8

That confused the hell out of me and after pondering it for a bit I decided
to compute the point difference in their OOC games.

You'll see, with one exception, and that can be explained, how they came
to their conclusions.

How the SEC East outscored their OOC opponents...

Mizzo +24 ppg
UT +23
UK +13
UF +10
UGA +6
Vandy +3
So Car -6

The conf results would equal out...the difference would have to be
in the OOC to have flip-flopped the standings.

The only team not in line was UF. But because they had to make up
the LSU game, they had to cancel their game with Presbyterian which
should have been a big win for them. Additionally, UF's conf numbers
would have taken a hit because they played in the SECCG and Bama beat
'em by 38.

You want to project a good analytical appearance, do what Mizzo did. Outscore
Eastern Mich and Del St 140-21 combined and you'll get to be the favorite
in the SEC East.

Georgia is supposed to lose to Missouri and Kentucky, but beat Florida according to this site. Things could fall apart and we lose to Missouri and Kentucky, but we ain't beating Florida. If we go 11-1, everyone knows who that one loss would be to.
