Jake is having one heck of a season and seems to be going fairly unnoticed. Its to bad we gave up on him, but maybe the league change has gone to his advantage.

On one hand, I'm glad to see him doing well. On the other, I wish he could have done this good while we had him. Guess getting out of the AL East has helped him gain more confidence. He's probably going unnoticed because he is on an awful Cubs team that is going nowhere this season.

The Orioles couldn't even convert Arrieta to a useful bullpen guy despite his power arm.

The Cubs convert our sh*t to gold(Arrieta, Hammel, Wada, Strop).
The A's convert it back to sh*t(Hammel, J.Johnson).

If you want, you can just include our pitchers going to the NL Central because Alfredo Simon has been good ever since he went to the Reds.

What about Matusz, & Britton? They were both lost causes as SP's, and have turned into solid BP arms.

Matusz and Britton are great. I just expected Arrieta to do better when they moved him to the bullpen in late 2012. But I checked and all but one relief appearance were multi-inning instead of one-inning.

The A's were making any pitcher look like an all-star(Kazmir, Colon, Jesse Chavez, Drew Pomeranz,....), but they could do nothing with J.Johnson and now Hammel.

It happens. It wasn't about talent with Jake...it was about his makeup and his clock. He was a headcase when he was with us...but going to a low pressure team like the cubs has relaxed him it looks like. The only problem now is he's due for arbitration and he's a Scott Boras client. In 2 years, he will be on the market if he continues to pitch like he has....

Btw for every talented guy we "gave up", we have found one. I remember Guthrie being pretty good for us.
